3. the wellbing of the sun appears to affect mostly just how frequent the wefts of time show up
The strength of the sun affects a lot of small stuff- how much terror you gain around the machine, the number of wefts in Albion, and IIRC the spawn rate and locations of different kinds of creatures (seems like if it goes down really low you get marauders and corrupted sequencers and guests and stuff fighting with dreadnoughts in the middle of London). It also changes some of the prospects and bargains, and I'm pretty sure it literally changes the brightness of Albion too.
I don't want to sound ungrateful but that was an advertised feature :(

This is what i set out to do today

Murdering a sun is at least #2 on my list of goals for this character :(
#1 is assassinating victoria, can i at least do that?
The clockwork Sun cannot be destroyed in any shape or form. Even when i took the duty of sabotaging it for the Storm that Speaks, it just took a chunk of the Sun's Strength and nothing else happened. It just boils down to how much strength of the sun you have, which also unlocks special bazaar prospects.
