Compatibility Mode Windows 7
Don't run in this mode as I found that the performance is terrible. I have a GTX 1080 @ 1440p and when played in Windows 7 mode I struggle to get more than 35fps max in town with max settings. But when I disabled that compatibility mode I had a smoother 45-60fps in town. Haven't seen what its like in battle yet but I felt that town was more lower frame rates than in battle.

game performance stays the same with or without windows 7 compatibility in my case

how do you turn it off? my googling skills are apparently sorely lacking

Right click icon properties "compatibility" tab.

You need to go in the File Location and right click the exe and uncheck compatibility mode there.

In battle it runs very well between 50-60fps. I guess I'm just lucky then 😬

Nah, you're simply brute forcing it with the 1080

The recommended specs for 1080p is a GTX760, and a i7-2600
With that kind of spec, you would expect getting 60FPS on that or above. right now, it's not. So something is definitely wrong somewhere.

Compatibility mode or not doesn't seem to make a difference on my PC, bad performance either way. It's not using all CPU and GPU resources at its disposal for whatever reason. The PC can do it, Toukiden 2 looks about the same in graphics quality and that runs at a silky smooth 60 FPS but this one can't seem to do even a stable 30 FPS.

Unchecking compatibility mode improved the performance for me, hope that Warriors All-Star won't have this problem.

i doubt that... release is only 3 months away, there is no way they can change the engine with that amount of time

It depend which Omega Force team is handling the port. It seems they have more than one team doing it.

DQH2, Berserk, AoT, Toukiden 2 vs Arslan, Bladestorm, Sanada.

One thing I did notice, is that all 3 with meh performance lack Exclusive Full screen mode.
DQH2 has the option for all 3 Windows, Borderless, Fullscreen. I had performance issues with both Borderless and Windowed. Fullscreen was perfect.
same with Toukiden 2 if I recall.

Heck, Sanada is even missing the usual FPS selector (30, 60, 20)
That said, I would petition KOEI to force Omega Force to reinstate an Exclusive Fullscreen mode, I think it might actually help quite a few people. Not all GPU like Borderless, not all engine does either. It really depends on the game for me some worked better borderless, some don't, but the choice should always be there. Borderless != Exclusive Fullscreen
