Ok they got me… Vaan is the PC
Hahaha. So there I was, rushing through the plot, and it gets to where they referred to something happening long in the past. And I was thinking, “How old is this person??”

And then shortly after, Vaan asked the question aloud, just to be lambasted by the rest of the team.

Ok, Vaan may not be the most important character to the plot, but he is 100% the stand in “I’m here” representation of the player. Still not really caring too much for the overarching political plot, but I am really growing to appreciate the different angle in the story telling.

Boy, that really escalated quickly.
People getting passionate is a good thing. Means the story is more profound than perhaps it gets credit for!

Unfortunately, I have to skip most of the messages so I don’t get spoiled! But I’m sure everyone has given good reasons for how they viewed their experience.

I'm done with this. I am not replying. What has been said has been said. U don't get it. U don't get it, and I don't care.

Also what about Cid??? Sacrifice? Cid wants the power to rule the world. The whole nethicite argument is a commentary on the US military complex. Thats the whole symbolism involving Vayne and his crusade(s). I don't think u actually understand what this story is about. Its not being subtle.

But like I said. I don't care. I will not respond further.

Everything the other guy said is correct. Take the L like a man.

U mean every subject he refused to even acknowledge and immediately changed, or the jaded sarcasm u clearly picked up on(& liked) and wanted to resurrect a now abandoned debate?

Vaan is obnoxious and of my most disliked aspects of the game. I don't need an annoying teenager audience stand-in protagonist to immerse myself in the story. He clashes even more considering that this is one of the more mature stories in the series.

The argument about Vaan's importance to the story is missing the point. His impact is minimal and could have been easily written around or relegated to a side character. The bigger problem however is that Vaan is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

Basch should have been the protagonist. If they wanted a younger character then they could have even changed the opening and used Reks. Or just made Vaan less irritating, hearing his voice and seeing that messed up looking Michael Jackson face makes me want to throw my controller.

So, Vaan is the main character then. The story is Vaan’s story, Ashe’s story is something that happens around Vaan’s story, which is the POV of the player.

It’s like, if we describe WW2 through the story of Anne Frank, then she is still the main character, even though she is not the main influence on the things happening to her.

I don’t think it actually is. Had he not botched Balthier and Fran’s heist, they would have just taken minor trinkets, never aware of the one Vaan found.

They also wouldn’t have bumped into “Amalia” who would have likely “succeeded” in her suicide mission, never knowing her birthright. Vaan caused everything to come together.

Just like you, the player.

You should not judge others by your own actions - and that is not a healthy view to have either.
