If you have 3 characters on your list trying to use a Quickening, the top should be your party menu key, the bottom should be the talk/command/accept button, and the middle character should be.... your battle menu key.
Keep in mind, unless each character has BOTH an active Mist charge AND a Quickening prompt, you wont be able to hit the key you want until you shuffle enough for a prompt to appear.
I only have Vaan in my party right now.. I was just grinding. No party members yet. So I got his first Quickening. But the prompts for the button don't pop up alot. So are you saying I have to KEEP SHUFFLING until I get a prompt? And then it showed the R key when the prompt came up. And when I pressed it he did a limit bread kind of move and another prompt came up to press R AGAIN, and I believe a 3rd time and then the limit break looked totally different. But that prompt doesn't come up at all alot and afterwards it just says MISSED. Is that how it's supposed to work???? I have to keep pressing Left CNTL to shuffle UNTIL I get a prompt for a button and THEN I press SAID BUTTON, and THEN KEEP RESHUFFLING until I get ANOTHER PROMPT and so forth??
BTW doesn't the game have some kind of IN-GAME tutorial for this?? They usually explain new mechanics in all FFs. And if it does is it maybe not showing up because I am at the VERY BEGINNING of the game where you first see the Consul, and you get your second Hunt, and only have Vaan in the party?
Thanks
At the point you're at in the game you won't really be able to chain more than one quickening together, they're meant to be used when you have a full party of members capable of doing them, then you can exhaust all their charges by chaining multiple quickenings together, and shuffle to regain charges and chain even more. You really shouldn't worry about it at that point of the game.
Thanks.
