How do i play FF12 The Zodiac Age like its the "International Zodiac Job System".
I played original US version on PS2 in US with 1 x job board. Read IZJS version had significant changes. Read "The Zodiac Age" had additional changes but did not balance game for inclusion of each character being able to get 2 x jobs. So....If i wanted to simulated IZJS but with TZA, do i just limit all characters to 1 x job, play in Japanese audio, and not farm items from Trials???? Cause it seems that would do it. Anything i miss?

If you just use 1 job that's pretty much IZJS. There's a few minor QoL changes here and there (no spell queues, controllable espers, etc.) but by and large it would be the same.

Alternatively, if you find the game too easy still I'd STRONGLY recommend checking out the Struggle for Freedom mod or it's hardcore variant, SFF: Proud Mode. Those will kick your ass ;)

Thank you for this feedback. I feel i always look at a "tank" as a character with high HP and not simply a vigilant Time Mage with Reverse and Decoy. I just finished a playthrough with a Uhlan, RDM, and ARC. I didn't have any issues at least getting to last 10 x hunts. This showed me that there was a balance using 3 x characters with 1 x jobs a piece with no items from trials. Having a second job would have been cake. Instead of buying or modding my PS2, i wanted feedback on the challenge that would have been IZJS given my STEAM copy.

-Use 1 job
-Don't ever load from the autosave
-You can do Trial Mode but you can't bring its save over
-You can't reset jobs
-You can only use a single 'deck' of gambits
-Don't use the map overlay
-[Optional] Use 2x speedup, though I believe IZJS actually uses 2.5x or even 3x
-As an aside, the PC version has NG+ and NG- minus selectable from the get go, but it's the only one -- other systems they behave like IZJS where you need to complete the game for NG+ and Trial Mode for NG-.

As far as I know controllable Espers are in IZJS so that's fine.

There are a couple things that would need to be modded in to REALLY get the IZJS experience, such as AoE tier one black magic and Cure, but for the most part the above covers it.

Thank you very much Melodia. I will limit myself to 1 x job, no autosave, and only 2 x speed.

I was pretty sure that the difference between versions was that the original Western version had no Classes, not that it was just one class. Everyone had about the same job boards but started in different parts. You could make your characters into anything at the same time because it was freeform, the only drawback being you need to specialize early on or you'll suffer for not having a well-built party.

Zodiac on the other hand gave us an actual Class System and removed the freeform nature, forcing you to only use specific classes, but you can pick 2 of them to mix and match and try to build your own class with those presets.

So I don't see how playing with only 1 class gives you anything close to the original version, and this suggestion confuses me. I was doing things like making Basch a "Paladin" by giving him buffs to magic and healing spells while being a tank in the non-Zodiac version.

FFXII Zodiac Age is a remastered version of FFXII International Zodiac Job System, only released in Japan I think. So there are actually 3 versions of the game. The original version, IZJS (only released in Japan, i think), and Zodiac Age.

That's even more confusing, I didn't know there's 3 versions.

Yet the topic title clearly wasn't talking about about the original.
And then both Hanyuu and myself were talking about stuff clearly not in the original as well.

So what you wrote is pretty much akin to "stop lying to the OP because you clearly don't have any idea what you're talking about".

I can understand not knowing about IZJS given it was Japan only, but perhaps try reading what you're responding to.

Maybe tone it down a bit. Its one thing to KNOW that you dont know something but still comment, but its fine to NOT KNOW you didnt know. They can learn from this new information, its called education, and it leads to personal growth. Now they know and wont repeat the same mistake.

My issue isn't with them knowing, I'm a huge proponent of striving to learn new things.
It's they fact they didn't go "hey wait a minute, this doesn't match up with the info I thought I knew, why is that?" and effectively accused me and Hanyuu of lying.

You're taking offense where none was given and making this into a larger problem than me simply saying I was confused. I accused no one of doing anything.
