Is the pc-port good?
Greetings,

I have heard good stuff about FF XII and I consider getting it while it is on sale, however due to a bad experience from FF13 I have to ask : does it run good on a pc ? Both frame wise and crash wise.

It's an excellent port! Probably one of the better ones. I've own FF 13 on steam and it ran like crap so i know what you mean. This one however is awesome, it runs smooth and plays great!

Good to hear, will probably grab it then!
Thank you both for your replies.

Not everything is fine, but in general it is a good port.

Things to notice:
The game has NO actual mouse-support - in menu you can not use the mouse like a mouse and in game it is basically treated like a joystick (including some problems when trying to do a slow camera move...... unlikely you really do that).
Performance - it takes a lot more perfmance GPU-wise then it looks like (way more than 13), a 980 Ti will struggle at 4K with max settings and even a 1080 Ti can not always maintain 60 FPS (Ambient-occlusion seems to be reall resource-hog here, the guassian-blur is also not good). And Rx 580 will give you ~40 FPS on 1440p maxed.

I am more than fine in 1080p 60 fps tbh. I have a 1060 so I havent bother much with 4k.
Cheers for the heads up regarding mouse support, but if it can use a controller I will use it instead. I always prefer them in such games.

pretty much everything has been covered but i just want to add... (im like 100 hours in) and this is easily one of the better pc ports for sure! im playing 4k and max setting and its really just been awesome. i had the original collectors edition on console, but i never got to play it really cuz i was working at the time and my roommate started before i could and then i just never got around to playing it. Playing it on pc now, its awesome, and the maps are freaking ginormous. I am hoping, though, that they expand on the License Board a little more, im already almost done with filling the two boards i have.

Just some extra infos - some people expect to run such games at max settings with way worse hardware.
I played it with slightly reduced settings on an old R9 280X - it is more than fine enough and doesn't really matter that ti dropps into the 20's on fast-forward in some intense scenes - happens way too rarely.

And i would highly advise anybody to play it with a controller as simply that is what the game and its control was designed around.

....
i think i should start a new playthrough again. The first Playthrough on PS2 without any strategy-guides or online help took me nearly 300 hours till i completed everything :D

As someone who has been playing with mouse and keyboard for about 100 hours, just want to say that the mouse and keyboard feels absolutely fine, and anyone that doesn't have a controller wont have a hard time with controls. R is menu, M/Z is map, leftCTRL to flee, Tab is field map, left click advances everything, right click is the cancel, WASD movement keys, and you use WS in the menu, camera control is mouse movement. Its super fluid and you never have to move your hands position.

Yes. Runs amazing with a 144hz display as well.

Yes, the game works wonderful. The only problem that I'm having are the cutscene. But perhaps it's just me.

It's a good port by Square Enix standards, which is still below average but it's not completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up like the Type-0 and Nier Automata ports.

I never had any issues with the Type-0 port.

then you missed the couple of instances where cutscenes would crash the game for everyone and square took their sweet time fixing it.

they have so many games and ongoing projects, im honestly not surprised it would take a while for them to fix stuff on the single player ports

After Windows 1803 broke the game, the bug lasted from May until August in 2018 looking at forum posts.

"a while" is understandable, but 3 months of the game being completely unplayable isn't acceptable.
