Issues With CG Cutscenes
Hello,

I've had an issue with the Steam port of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age since I bought it: the CG cutscenes have tons of visual slowdown, choppy audio and audio desync. I've tried a variety of settings (turning off vsync, different resolutions, borderless vs. fullscreen, etc.) but haven't found a solution. Normal in game guctscenes and gameplay run just fine, it's only the CG cinematic that have this issue. I've searched the discussion forum for anyone else having the same issue but haven't had any luck. If anyone else has encountered this problem and found a solution I would really appreciate some help.

Here's a link to a video I recorded to demonstrate: https://twitter.com/DAIHIME_SAMA/status/1332795600199426050

This is the first time ive heard of someone having this issue, the only thing i can think of is that the movie files weren't downloaded properly and will require file verification to check that.

Would that be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

it would, yes.

I did a full uninstall of the game- including the cloud settings saved in My Documents. After reinstalling I'm still having the same issue.

Maybe it has something to do with your PC specs?

Hi, just bought the game and I am having this issue as well. Were you able to find a resolution?:

my specs are:
intel Xeon W-10885m
32gb DDr4
nvidia RTX 5000

I have tried everything you have tried in this post as well and out of luck so far.

I am having this exact same issue as the OP.
I've experimented with the graphic quality turning the various settings like Vsync off, anti-aliasing off and even went to the extreme turning every setting to off and trying to run at 720p and there no change. Running on a desktop with Max power setting and here's my PC specs that are all stock:

i5-9600K

GTX 1660 Super

Memory = 16gb

500g SSD

Using MSI Afterburner I can see my GPU usages drops from ~1965mhz before the cutscene to under 500mhz shortly after the cutscene starts so it's almost like the game is not using my GPU anymore. I tried bumping my GPU performance up to maximum as I usually just use Optimal via Nvidia control panel but again this didn't have any affect on the issue.

My CPU and memory load are both under 50% during this time so I don't think there's a bottleneck going on there. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't have a solution for you guys, but have you tried switching from fullscreen to borderless windowed, or vise versa? Something else worth trying is getting the VBF unpacker from nexusmods and checking if you can play the videos outside of the game. They're webm format. Also, it might sound weird, but win 10 2004 update added a load of Bluetooth bugs and a few people had issues with framerates caused by Bluetooth devices and even xbox one controllers. It's probably not the cause as it sounds like the game runs fine, but it's worth testing.

I actually found what my issue was. Nvidia released a new driver 2 days ago. As soon as I downloaded, installed and rebooted the PC I've had no issues with cutscene stuttering. Hope this helps!
