Nope, I don't think she sounds like a child, she just has an accent. That's all. I love her voice, fits her very well.

I like her voice. She doesn't sound 8-years old to me. Some girls just have different vocal ranges. I actually prefer her english voice more than her japanese voice. I think you might like her japanese voice though, cause I remember it sounding more mature.

Her actress is Australian, that's why she sounds different to a lot of English speakers. I never thought I'd see someone compare her voice to that of an 8 year old child. lol

To be clear, she sounds VERY different in the original Japanese. Her speech is archaic and elaborate, but she does not have an accent.

The choice of a speaker with a strong accent as the English VA was the idea of the translator, and he had to push hard to get the directors to accept it; and it remains controversial (as we can see here).

Play on japanese, her voice in JP is like a 60 years old

Her English voice acting is second only to Balthier, and even then it's close.

And no, she does not sound like a little girl. I'm not sure where you are getting that.

I hate her English voice very much. I ended up switching the audio to Japanese, and I'm enjoying the story a lot more now. I wouldn't say she sounds like a child, however.

Her voice is terrible. Its so high pitch and annoying and her accent makes her sound mentally deficient with all her weird random pauses. Very much the opposite of the the Japanese voice. I do prefer the english voices over the Japanese for ff xii but by god if there was an option to play in english and swap out only fran's VA to Japanese then I would take it in a heart beat.

I actually love her voice and cadence. Her graphical design is far more of a flaw than anything else.
