if you got wiped but it was pretty close, come back after 5 to 10 levels. if it wasnt very close and you dont think you would have had it either way, come back after 10 to 15 levels. if you're still struggling and havent beaten pharos yet then you probably should. you'll unlock the better armours after that.
So if you just wanna try to brute force it with levels, I'd say try again at 59 or 61. Otherwise, I'd suggest getting better equipment, better spells, etc.
I royally screwed up towards the start and when I got Enkidu to critical health, accidentally got Vaan killed and spent the next 5-10 minutes trying to get back to a steady state and kill it.
After that the fight was very standard till the last critical health buffs kicked in and he would occasionally combo Vaan to death through Bubble/Protect.
Once he threw up the Perfect Defence I just ran Vaan around the arena with Decoy.
First thing I did was grab the Masamune at the back of the arena and have a Bubble Belt equipped. Made a big difference when reviving him.
I didn't have to care about Sleep on Vaan since he'd always end up getting attacked and woken up. Kept having to use Items to wake up Ashe though cos I kept forgetting to swap between the Sage Ring and Nishin Belt (?) when he cast Sleep. Petrify I wasn't that bothered about since it was easy enough to remove via an item.
Berserk was handy on Vaan also.
i also had reddas on my side to help too.
I managed to get to last phase of battle but gilgamesh with bravery one shot my white mage which has 3,8k hp without bubble,
Ok I pass it now. I will try to do anything else I can before going to Pharos.
Too bad I can't just get that Masamune and run away xD
Gilgamesh does ignore evasion in the final battle, however like all bosses he is trivialized by Reverse/Decoy. Even without Reverse, a bubbled Decoy tank with dedicated healing doesn't need shields to live. You may die to unlucky combo chains, of course, but that's just outside RNG. Raise, and continue.
What's most important is to guard against his Sleep/Disable - luckily those are easy to ward off, as his Sleep only affects characters with even level numbers, and his Disable only affects those with a level divisible by 3. Equip the appropriate accessory to guard against whichever would affect you. His lvl 4 Break you can simply cure with Gold Needles, I don't think it's worth guarding against.
Kill Enkidu first, of course.
jokes on gilgamesh- can't get me with level 4 Break if all of my characters are under level 4 :^)
Actually, because i just saw Hynuyu 's post, i checked it out and it seems gilgamesh has indeed the anti evade passive ability which is confusing me, because i killed him 2 days ago, and i remember my tank going down only one time.
This is weird, since when in low health gilga performs tons of combos and hits pretty hard my tank should have gone down quite a lot of times ( at least 5 or 6 times)
So i'm wondering, has gilgamesh been nerved in this version or does he actually simply not possess the "anti evade" ability?
i guess i will have to check it myself...
Works well for the first fight, though.
