I think I already muffed up cartographer by not getting the entire palace of rabanastre when i was there.
edit - i really wish it was like FF4 on steam/ios where it actually tells you when youve completed a map rather than just having to guess at it. if that is even how it works, i assume you have to turn all of the dark grey on the maps to light in order to get the cheevo...
- Need to set foot in every area of every map, not "full explore" every corner of a map, as the achievment seuggest;
- Great Crystal doesn't count, after all there is no map of the place;
- There are some places commonly missed by players, you can find suggestions in the internet, and you can check those locations with the World Map if you bought the map from a mog, no need to move to every area to find out.
- Must kill every enemy 1 time at least, inclusidng espers, bosses, optional bosses, marks and rare game;
- No need multiple kills to unlock page 2 of any monster;
- Better start hunting rare games at least after Phon Coast, because many rare games spawn only after joining the Hunt Club;
- Use a guide to check which rare monster you have killed or not, know its spawn condition AND location in the area, knowing the location saves much time;
- If you're planning to hunt Larva Eater don't forget to also defeat Ultima (Esper) and Omega Mark XII (optional boss) as they're all located inside the Great Crystal, so you don't have to get back in that awful place anymore;
- Took me time to find out because there are many misinformation about Larva Eater spawn condition, but it is: at Leo Gate Stone, kill every Necrophobe (but let at least 5 of them divide), then keep going from Leo to Way Stone XIV util it spawns, there is no need to chain 255 enemies as you may read somewhere, although chaining 255 Necrophobes will help counting and will give you a chance to get the extreme difficult rare drop from Larva Eater.
