If you go in the deeper parts immediately after Raithwall it can be challenging. It's best to take things slow, especially in the areas where lots of skeletons spawn. Don't move too much or you'll risk pulling extras, be slow and methodical and you should do alright even at low levels.

Oh, and, avoid traps. There's some NASTY ones in there.

I can understand your frustration since this is one of the first real 'tests' of prowess against enemies that cast a lot of magic spells on your team. I've got a few tips that may help you out in this part of the game.

1. You want to utilize Basch as your guest character a bit more by changing his gambits or even taking control of him once he acquires a weapon. Zodiac Age is built on IZJS (International Zodiac Job System) from the JP version so it has all the features from IZJS with a few extra tweaks.

2. Balthier should've explained the Gambit system in detail during the tutorial, but sometimes just messing around with them is useful to try.

3. 'Vitality before violence' as Balthier says, so place healing/restorative gambits higher up in the gambit list above attacking ones. Consider dedicating at least one of your party members to restoration. What I do is have everyone do 'restoring' but at different HP levels. Like Ally < 70% HP for my primary support character and then have other characters at a lower threshold with at least one person with a revive gambit using Phoenix Downs.

Now as far as details:

-One useful gambit is to have everyone attack the party leader's target so you all 'focus' down the same enemy (or 'mobile unit' aka 'mob' in gaming terms).

-Double check your restoring gambits are working properly and you aren't running out of mana too quickly. Don't be afraid to use consumables when HP levels are dangerously low (I typically use a 30% threshold myself).

-You can choose jobs fairly early on, but be sure to have a save game prior to choosing jobs so that you can change your mind later without having to start things all over (or using CheatEngine). You can check out the job combinations guide on places like GameRant[gamerant.com] while avoiding the plagiarized version in the Steam Guides section. There's also some great info on GameFAQs in this thread[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] if you want to take a look.

-Keep the lights on to keep enemies from spawning too often and overwhelming you until you feel that you can handle the added mob density and difficulty.

-Farm a bit near the save crystal area and run back to save & heal up if needed...repeat as necessary (using speed up function) until you feel you're comfortably-leveled enough to handle things. Generally an average party level of around 15 should get you through the Barheim Passage without major problems. You can even get by with far less levels if you gain enough LP (license points) to unlock enough nodes on your board with +HP augments and other useful bits for each job.

-Speaking of which, look at each license board (check guides) and try to go for the HP and augments licenses as soon as possible. They really help a great deal!

-If all else fails, go back to an earlier save. You DID hopefully make a save game where you read the warning about 'you cannot go back from this point so save in a new slot' and actually did that, right? There's a reason they put that warning there. ;)

And even after all this if you're still having trouble, please feel free to post what you've tried and maybe a YT video of your playtime/attempts.

The only way i managed to pass through it was by literally just passing through it. I just runned ignoring everyone.
