Reks to 99

Working on getting Reks to level 99 for my first time and just reached 15, about where I gave up on the PS2 original, but x4 speed makes this much more feasible. There's three Imperials in one zone and four in the other, with just enough zones on each end to two-zone the set of four to respawn both ways and the three once per round trip.

Been leaving game minimized while busy irl, so my time playing according to Steam is way higher than the game-clock (which stops during Pause), heh. I'm doing this to get to a 999 chain with just him too and also see how many achievements that I can get here.

Yeah, at 22 or 44 XP a pop, these mobs are not adding up fast, heh. Getting closer to being able to one-shot at least.

Considering my sanity can only handle a hundred or two kills per session, you're probably right, lol.

Then stop doing it? I mean, you know you're not enjoying it and the only reason you're doing it is "just cause," then why bother? You get nothing out of it other then looking back at this point of time in your youth where you spent an ungodly amount of time for no reward of any sort.

I know the argument can be made that all games are frivilous in some manner and that grinding Reks is no different than grinding the main cast. Except for the fact that the game isn't built for grinding Reks, and it offers no opportunities like fighting bigger bosses, gaining items, achievements, or even just making the last boss easier. There is no reward to this other than posting on a forum saying, "lulz guys I'm so crazy I leveled Reks to 99!" Don't waste your time.

Reminds me of a time waaaay back when I started grinding out levels on Secret of Mana before entering the home village... Got to a fairly decent level, lent the game to a friend and... He used that save slot as it was the lowest level save... Grrrrrr!!! Forgot to tell him to use a different slot... Ahh well.

Still chipping away at this but been busy the last week. As for the reason for doing this, I'm just screwing around, really. Wasn't posting here to show off but rather to have a place to track my own progress. If anyone is interested, all the better, heh. I won't be just doing this though. Now that progress is slowed, I'll be starting the regular game on another file some time and doing another "100%" 1+ of each inventory item run like I did on the original PS2. This includes completing all recipies but also having 1+ of each Loot after. I'll be coming back to this off and on as the mood strikes, and this will probably be the last thing that I ever finish with the game.

Reminds me of why I primarily saved to slot 2, in case someone picked up one of my games and mashed accept button at a save into slot 1. Or how I had to hide my FF1 cart because family would load it and head to the Inn right away...

Haven't found anyone that's actually completed this, however the best I found was a person that got to level 48, over 170 hours. I'm sure it's a bit faster when the speed up in the Zodiac version, but still sets how long you can expect this to take.

Been pretty busy with other stuff lately, but I hit level 19 the other day. Wasn't quite as close to 20 as I thought when I posted last, heh.
