Just the original FFXII with a job system, prettier graphics, and various treasure/item/QoL improvements, pretty much.
I have played the german version on PS2. No jobs and only one licence board. I don´t think its a question of PAL or US.
I have played all FF from 1 to 12. ( without 11, no online games)
I finished all of them except 2 ( worst levelling system ever ) and 6 (great game but late in the game I got bored of levelling up so many chars because you need several full groups for some dungeons.
My favourite games are FF7 and 10.
FF12 is good, but I had 2 problems:
- The story was quite obstuse. Sometimes I had no idea whats going on.
- The story felt like it was only half finished. When the game was over I guessed I have seen only half of it. If I remember correctly it was about a small country that was caught in a war between 2 big countries, but in the game you deal only with one of the big countries.
Its been a long time since I played it, so I might be wrong about some things.
The orignal 3 PS2 versions are near identical (Japan, US, EU) with Japan for example Omega having far more HP,
Then there is the International Zodiac job system - that was released in Japan only. It had a lot of changes, like itnroducing the Job-System (duh).
And now we have the remaster - PS4, Xbox, Switch and PC - with again some reworks, 2 jobs instead of one, and slightly better graphic.
They are all the exact same story with just a bit different gameplay.
FF14 was a disaster when it was first released, and FF15 I haven't even touched because it got delayed for so many years and it just looks like "Japanese High School Boys and their big adventure: The Game."
I know that the job system and many items are different.
Are the enemies still the same, especially summons and the monster hunting?
I mean how and where to find them, not the exact stats.
I still have the guide book for the original game.
It will not tell me how to optimize my chars, but I should be fine if I give every char a different
weapon type and chose skills that make some sense. No FF game was very hard, except some optional bosses.
If you need guides, there's tons of free online FAQs to refer to that have every piece of information you could ever need.
