Doesn't seem to be any concise guides on when you can get cool stuff early (in game only, no trials steals).

I know there are some Thief's cuffs you can get from a chest early on...
what else (give details)?

Steal Gladius from Lindbur Wolf before Garamsythe Waterway. It's best to do it while you have Penelo. Set her to party leader, send Vaan in to steal, and reload autosave if he fails/dies. If he is successful She has a good head start to run out of the area before you get killed lol.

I believe the OP was refering to something like the old "Power Walkthrough Guide" that used to be on GameFAQs for the original version (but was later removed) which outlined the earliest point that things because possible (or in some cases, practical), including lucrative opportunities for XP and Loot gain (but more specifically covered OP equipment availability).

Oh. Well, there's Ashe10's youtube guides. Granted it's video format so it's difficult to search but I think that dude gets everything as early as realistically possible. But it's a complete perfect game walkthrough that you can't exactly just ctrl+f your way through.
