Then there's the perennial favorites Flamestaff and Burning Bow, both available pretty much the moment the game starts and very, very far beyond gear at that level. They take some creativity to get, though, bow especially.
After Raithwall's Tomb you can go plunder in Mosphoran Highwastes and Salikawood, where several chests contain armor/weapons many tiers above what you should have at that point. You can also go into Barheim Passage for some nice, easy-to-get pieces like Deathbringer.
After Eruyt Village, you already have access to three maximum-tier weapons on the bazaar (Karkata, Vrscika, and Mithuna), but of course it takes a while to farm the materials. They are every bit as ridiculous at that stage as you might suspect.
With the Phon Coast, you are nearing the high end of power already, if you want to put in the work. Cerobi Steppe is full of <1% chests with busted endgame items, but there's also the deep end of Lhusu Mines available where some exceptional pieces can be found. A number of top-tier bazaar items also become available at this point (e.g. Dhanusha).
Always keep in mind, though, that it is often faster to advance the story and gain access to easy sources for some items than it would be to farm those items earlier. Of course, nothing wrong with just enjoying the busted power you can assemble, no matter how long it takes :)
To add to what's been said above, the Deadlands affords you an easy Opal Ring in a chest, the common skeletons in the area have Golden Skullcaps to steal, the slightly less common ones drop Laurel Crowns, and the list goes on. The Necrohol after that has a good amount of guaranteed loot, fairly high-level repeatable chest loot, Maximilians are fairly easy to farm in bulk, and if you don't mind save-scumming on the edge of a zone, it's not too difficult to walk out with some Grand Armor and a Staff of the Magi.
The only real hurdle is the Bomb King that you have to kill to get from the Salikawood to the Deadlands but if you've been picking up gear along the way, it's easy to tag with Silence and Immobilize and simply beat it to death while it sits there (especially if you throw in a quickening before it uses Renew).
Sure. What I mean is that it's the only thing that can outright 'stop' your progress since you have to kill it to keep moving on and if previous forums are any indication, it's easy to have problems with it the first time around. The enemies in the next areas are dangerous when you arrive, but they won't stop you from running around stealing and collecting loot.
And if you have a Red Mage (as one option) in the group with Death to wipe out the Baknamies and Elvorets, running the Necrohol really isn't that bad. The Zombies and Babils are pretty easy to avoid.
But be aware that the enemies in these areas are much stronger than those from your first visit in the mines.
