So when does this game get crazy?

In pretty much every FF game the plot starts out relatively normal but has a certain turning point where the plot is shaken up and ♥♥♥♥ gets crazy. Does this game have a similar turning point, or is it pretty much a shakespeare play the whole way through?

It's the star wars prequels only not quite has boring and with a lot more intresting charecters (I would take Vaan over Anakin) I guess the big twist does come twords the end of the game when Asch realizes the descion shes being duped into making and decides to go a diffrent route, but other then that not that I can really recall. Plenty of smaller political betrayls though.

[1] Some people claims the real cause of his depression was due to an earlier affair he discovered between Penelo and Archadian Prince Larsa. This speculated is not widely accepted by Ivalice historican.

[2] This is changed in Zodiac Age. Vaan overlooked the affair of Penelo and Larsa, therefore never developed depression nor went onto exile.

It's a Shakespeare play all the way through, which is part of what makes it my favorite final fantasy.
I would also recommend Type 0 for the story, but not for the same reasons; rather it touches on subjects not normally covered in any games, much less Final Fantasy games.
