Pre-Pharos Soul Powder NG-

So i'm doing a NG- run at the moment, and part of the run includes 100% completion by getting all available items. I'm currently working through Tournesol (have everything needed except for the soul powders.) As far as I can tell, the only option available is by stealing from Vorres at Necrohol. (pretty rough area for my party, but i can survive if i bring enough phoenix downs). However I cant find a good way to get him to appear.

Necrohol seems to be a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ area for Zoning in and out, but I've tried for maybe 3 hours and I can't seem to even get a dark elemental to spawn (which, as i understand, is needed for vorres). Not to mention running through to spawn him takes forever at a low level because i need to slowly work my way through the zone to avoid getting mobbed and killed by high level mobs.

Any advice? Worst case scenario I can just wait until Pharos to do this, but i'd like to get as much of this grinding done as possible early. Ultima weapon took me like an hour, Tournesol has taken me like 5 so far...

All that's needed is unlocking the Hunt Club (Vorres is a trophy game). Dark Elementals spawn in the northern part of the Hall of the Ivory Covenant at about a 20% rate. Engage it and drag it to the Cloister of Reason, and Vorres will appear.

I must just be getting really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck then, I've yet to see a dark elemental appear there.

Might just be bad luck. I literally did it yesterday and it worked fine so the method is sound ¬_¬

It also took me up to about a 250 chain to get the hell gate flames, so.

Yeah, well, Hell-Gate's Flame is a monograph drop. It's completely unaffected by chain level in any way.

yeah, but it does a decent job of indicating consecutive kills. granted some of those were the other wolf variation in the area.

Cerberus replaces Tartarus at 40%, meaning about 100 of those 250 kills were Cerberus. HGF is a 5% drop, which means you were totally within normal RNG variance for that sample size. Nothing particularly unlucky, it's just about were you'd expect it to be.
