Are the late game optional espers harder than the final boss? *no spoilers please*
If I hunt down all the optional espers first am I going to just steam roll over the final boss? Or are they all considered easier/lower level and should be knocked off before I beat the game?

The final boss is a joke compared to a lot of the later optional and post game stuff

Not asking about post game or hunts, specifically the Espers. I figure Zodiark would be tougher than the final boss but the other optional ones. I've defeated Zalera, Cúchulainn and Adrammelech so far outside of the main story. Exodus, Zeromus, Chaos and Ultima I have not.

You ALWAYS steamroll the final boss if you've gone away to do optional content.

Optional content is always massively harder than main story content otherwise it wouldn't be a challenge to seek out.
Just look at the Dark Aeons in FFX. If you could take out even the easiest of them (Valefor), you'd likely beat everything in the final section easily. If you waited until you were at the point of beating Penance, the whole endgame is a 1-shot fest.

the final boss is a 5 on the game power scale, with most optional enemies you can have up to that final dungeon unlock going up to a 6. then you get to the optional "end game", and there the things are kranked up to a minimum of 8. some enemies are just gimmicky, true, but even working around it and cheese-ing it, there are no easy fight. then there's the timed doors in the great crystall, and you REALLY want to have a map for that.

after that, there's the trial mode. now there you WILL bite the dust pretty hard

the very first time i play FF XII. i got to teh final boss. steam rolled him like basically went for a snack and came back while my gambits took care of him.a nd was like ok so i killed this entance area gate warden loser. now i cvan explore the REAL final dungeon and find the REAL final boss

no. that was the final boss. hue hue hue hue hue hue

yeah if you do any sidequesting or anything that isn't on the rails you will quickly escalate past the meager difficulty of the "final boss"./

You will steamroll the final boss even if you don't the side content... So go for it.

Was there ever a Final Fantasy where you DIDN'T steamroll the final boss?

FF4 and 5 had challenging final bosses. Anyway so far I’ve found the story Espers only marginally easier than the optional Espers If fought at an appropriate level so long as you equip the proper acccessory. The guy in the sewers was easier then Shem in the crystal labyrinth with 3 black belts equip. Exodus did kick my ass though. Once I get to the final dungeon I can leave to go fight em?

nope, it's a Point-Of-No-Return deal, but there are no save points after that, so you restart from right before entering the final dungeon at best. not that there is anything worthy in the final dungeon tho...

Yeah, Easy. I can tell Chaos and Ultima are way harder. especially chaos where you are required to get the medals, fight two bosses and finally chaos.

Was he instakillable? I don't remember.

I know my Go-To strategy for the lower tier Aeons was max strength Attack Reels with every hit doing 99999. That damage fell off pretty hard at the higher tier ones though.

Either way, Yojimbo instakills aside. 90% of the optional endgame content was harder than the boss. Dark Aeons, the Monster Hunt arena (forgot its name). Not sure if the Omega Ruins was harder now off the top of my head, except for the obvious Omega Weapon and the giant '♥♥♥♥ you' that was a Great Malboro.

I've not played a lot of FF games compared to some but they've all been the same. If you could take Ultima or Omega Weapon on FF7 or 8, you could roflstomp the final boss.
