Optional content is always massively harder than main story content otherwise it wouldn't be a challenge to seek out.
Just look at the Dark Aeons in FFX. If you could take out even the easiest of them (Valefor), you'd likely beat everything in the final section easily. If you waited until you were at the point of beating Penance, the whole endgame is a 1-shot fest.
after that, there's the trial mode. now there you WILL bite the dust pretty hard
no. that was the final boss. hue hue hue hue hue hue
yeah if you do any sidequesting or anything that isn't on the rails you will quickly escalate past the meager difficulty of the "final boss"./
true
All you need is Yojimbo really and hope for zanmato lol
Was he instakillable? I don't remember.
I know my Go-To strategy for the lower tier Aeons was max strength Attack Reels with every hit doing 99999. That damage fell off pretty hard at the higher tier ones though.
Either way, Yojimbo instakills aside. 90% of the optional endgame content was harder than the boss. Dark Aeons, the Monster Hunt arena (forgot its name). Not sure if the Omega Ruins was harder now off the top of my head, except for the obvious Omega Weapon and the giant '♥♥♥♥ you' that was a Great Malboro.
I've not played a lot of FF games compared to some but they've all been the same. If you could take Ultima or Omega Weapon on FF7 or 8, you could roflstomp the final boss.
