It keeps track of all quantities you've sold, up to the point where you purchase a bazaar good - at which point the counters for all the ingredients for THAT ITEM will be reset to 0, regardless of how many of them you've sold to shops. Keep that in mind when planning to create items with the same ingredients (or the same item multiple times, in case of repeatables).
Take Tournesol for instance: What if I sell Empyreal Soul x3, then I save and quit, come back, play for a while and grind Gemsteel x3, sell those to some random shop and finally sometime in the future I get and sell Serpentarius x3.
Are you saying that doing it this way will NOT give me the Tournesol in Bazar? :| I always thought the game saved and kept track of it , regardless of whether you sell it in bulk. But it's been a while since I hunted any bazar recipes in the old title
No. I'm literally saying the opposite.
That is how it works, yes.
HOWEVER as I said when you make something at the bazaar, all the ingredient counters for items used in making THAT THING will be reset.
To take your Tournesol Example, it requires Gemsteel x3, Empyreal Soul x3, and Serpentarius x3 as you said. And to make Gemsteel, you need Damascus Steel x2, Hell-Gate's Flame x2, and Scarletite x1.
Now, let's assume you make one Gemsteel in the bazaar. The moment you buy that Gemsteel, all the counters for Damascus Steel, for Hell-Gate's Flame, and for Scarletite will be reset to 0. So, if you sell SIX Damascus steel, SIX Hell-Gate's Flame, and THREE Scarletite, you will NOT get three Gemsteel - you will get ONE, and then all the counters reset, and you have wasted a ton of materials.
But, if you sell the materials separately just in the amounts required, and purchase the resulting Gemsteel in between whenever you have sold 2/2/1, you can get them all.
Another factor is that because the counters do not reset until you purchase the item off the bazaar, you can make use of overlapping requirements and save some materials.
In the above example, Empyreal Soul is made from High Arcana x1, Soul Powder x1, and Wargod's Bands x2.
Serpentarius, meanwhile, is made from also High Arcana x1, as well as Snake Skin x4, and Serpent Eye x2.
Because both require High Arcana, you can sell the following:
High Arcana x1
Soul Powder x1
Wargod's Bands x2
Snake Skin x4
Serpent Eye x2
and unlock BOTH an Empyreal Soul AND a Serpentarius at the same time using only ONE High Arcana instead of two.
For example: Tournesol needs Empyreal Soul x3, Gemsteel x3, Serpentarius x3 while the Kumbha needs Gemsteel x2, Mallet x2, Orichalcum x3. If you sell 3 Empyreal Souls, 3 Serpentarius, 3 Gemsteel, 2 Mallets and 3 Orichalcum, you'll unlock both recipes at the same time (so you'd save 2 Gemsteel)
