EDIT: IIRC you can also use Poison + Immobilize. Can't remember exactly if those are available early but I think they are.
I have already finished Eruyt Village quests. Bow will be probably soon in shops
There is a neutral mob in the Westersand, Dive Talon, which has a chance to drop Burning Bow - one of the best bows in the game, because it not only has quite decent damage up until the later midgame but also boosts all fire damage by 50% leading to some absurd numbers on the right characters very, very early on.
Killing Dive Talons at low levels isn't easy though, not only because they hit hard but also because they can use Kamikaze to kill themselves and give no loot.
If you do the ferry quest in the Esterstand to get to the north bank, you can just run around grabbing random chests between the Estersand, Highwaste, and Salikawood to kit your whole group out in gear that's overpowered for that point of the story. With that gear and a little experience, it's not very difficult to get all the way to Nabudis (where a repeatable chest has a decent chance of being a burning bow - among lots of other high-end gear).
If you're finished with Eruyt and able to leave the jungle, you can also pretty easily farm up one of the best 1-h swords in the game in the Feywood.
You have options at that point of the story and farming talons is one I wouldn't bother with. If you 'really' want the bow, filling up on gear in the north Estersand should be enough to stomp the White Mousse into the dirt with autoattacks.
Leveled to about 15 with Dustia (just to get Flamestaff truth be told), then did the Palace for some more party members. Vaan as Archer, Balthier as Red Mage, Fran as Machinist - used Immobilize + Poison and ranged damage and was able to kill Dive Talon right away. Took about 20 kills or so until I got a bow to drop, without chaining. Used the save crystal near Sandsea to replenish MP in between, because the mage also spammed offensively.
I think 30 minutes of time investment isn't too much for the power afforded by that bow, though of course YMMV with drop luck.
(Speaking of drop luck, I later got Salamand Halcyon on my first steal, meaning Arcturus also only took me like 20 minutes to farm. Hooray for RNG.)
well shikari and bushi with healer do all the job. No need bow for now
However, it can be a very real argument to just rush through the story instead of wasting time farming weapons that will just be overkill against anything you encounter - particularly if farming them takes longer than it would to progress the story to a point where you get them more easily.
To each his own, I guess. Personally, I like doing it just for the sake of having a weapon like that early on. No matter if it takes long and isn't needed. It's just for funsies.
