Monk's Brawler perk
Brawler perk, is it worth to ever run it over a pole? Also, if anyone could fill me in on all the armor differences I'd aprreciate it.

I had Penelo with brawler augment and the accessory that also increases unarmed damage... I was dealing 150 damage a hit. The moment I gave her the best pole available at the time it doubled. There's no point going unarmed unless you're running a challenge afaik.

Early on, the damage can be ok if you're playing in Strong mode since your level and strength figure heavily into your attack power with unarmed (assuming you have either the brawler license or amber armlet - they don't stack) and you won't have any better weapons at the start of the game.

At level 99 with 99 strength, unarmed is basically like using a 99 power weapon. It's not horrible but it has a low combo rating and at any stage of a normal game, there's likely to be a better pole available.

As for armor differences, there are some pieces with specific/unique benefits in each category but in general:

Heavy - Highest defense and bonuses to Strength.
Light - Direct bonuses to HP.
Mystic - Bonuses to Magic and MP.

thank you, the game itself doesn't make a great job of explaining this
