Trial Mode
The only thing i have left to do is this and the bestiary however i have a question about trial mode. I have seen various online posts say people are "farming" for items. That suggests to me they are loading an auto save up but when i tried that it just said everything would be reset and loaded up my main save. Whats the point of an auto save that doesnt actually auto save anything? (For example i get to stage 3 steal a longsword from flowering cactoid and decide to quit and reload the autosave to try again for karkata)

I dont really need any items now anyway as beat yiazmat, command every esper, and have all the non invisible strongest equipment. Even so some of these items have ridiculously low steal or drop rates which means youd have to keep resetting and nobody would want to keep starting from level 1 and praying for rng on one level. If the game purposefully blocks you from loading auto saves thats kinda dumb. So yeah Im just curious was autosave for trial mode patched out because its essentially save scumming to get items like karkata on stage 3 or something? Im playing on ps4 btw.

In PS2 FF12 IZJS (JP only), there was no way to transfer items from Trial Mode to the main game. The Trial Mode was just a segregated 'challenge mode' and that was that.

Unfortunately in Zodiac Age with the way you can (technically) bring items from Trial Mode into the main game, it allows for obtaining rare and powerful items much easier than intended and further cheapening the difficulty of the original game.

Yes you can do save scumming with the autosave system. On PC you can also rename the autosaves to a different number and they will load up like a permanent regular save ^_^

I treat Trial Mode as its own separate game. If anything, mixing between the two should only ever go one way, i.e. from main game to Trial mode, and only once. Going to Trial Mode to farm gear ridiculously easily and early and then transferring it back to the main game seems weird and contrived to me. Might as well just edit things in directly and save you the time.

But this is a single-player-only game, and nothing you do in your game has any bearing on anyone but yourself. It's not for me to tell you how to play, not in any way, shape, or form. You do you, and maximize YOUR fun. You're an adult. You can police yourself.

Well first off i was trying to load the save auto save as you would normally. I didnt think you had to press trial mode everytime.

Secondly i agree about getting items like karkata at the start of the game. Its kind of ridiculous thats why i left this until last. Its why i also didnt farm for seitengrats with a cheap rng manipulation or use decoy in every situation (since decoy imo is just god mode against really strong opponents).

And thirdly like i said i dont even need any of the items now anyway. I could probably beat the end story boss with mage masher and unarmed lol. I kinda wanted bonebreaker tho cause it looks cool and is rare but since you cant transfer items in new game plus there isnt really any need lol.

Btw is it just me or are some bosses in trial mode are way harder than they are in the actual game. I just attempted this at 85 on everyone and had trouble with some stages particularly if fannying around stealing at the start. Im on stage 100 now and i just got my ass handed to me..but half my party were dead from the previous fight. Once i do this tho all ill need to do for platinum is bestiary (missed normal rare games). I should have waited untili was level 99 to do this trial mode but nvm

Some are easier, some are harder. Some aren't in the main game at all (like Trial 100).

But overall, Trial Mode is designed to be an extra challenge so it's no surprise if it's harder than the main game.

Even at level 99 you can get obliterated on floor 100.

I know the OP was not asking on how to beat it(maybe he already has), but there is a trick to beating it in around ~30 seconds. The trick involves an esper, that's all I will say.

Edit to the original topic:
Though I mainly wanted to post on giving you a hint as how to beat floor 100 with ease,

Trial Items still work on PC, and I assume they still do on ps4 as well (can't be entirely bothered to load my ps4 version up). It was an intended mechanic and I don't see why they would change it.

If the game is telling you that your progress would be lost it is because youre loading into the main game. Which as intended resets your progress to 0 in return for the items you've aquired. You instead need to load up trial mode again and resume from the auto save.

I can confirm this is how it worked on the Ps4 version and on the Pc and as of 5/12/2018 still works on the pc. (again I don't know why or if they would ever change it as it is an inteded 100% mechanic placed in by the devs, not some weird by product of auto saving).

If you want to continue your trial from the autosave, you need to choose the "trial" option from the monu. NOT "load game". If you use load, you go back to the main game and loose trial progress( while keeping the items you got from trial).

So if you want to keep doing the same trial stage again, for example stage 3 where the cactus givves you Karkata sword. This is how to do it:

1. Play trial untill you are at stage 3.
2. Steal from cactus.
3. If you didn't get Karkata, go back to main menu.
4. Choose trial from the main menu.
5. Choose your autosave from the next menu and you are back at stage 3 again.
6. Go back to step 2 untill you get Karkata.
7. When you finally get karkata, beat the trial stage 3 and then go back to main menu or die in the trial stage 4.
9. Now choose the load game and you have the Karkata in the main game, but need to start trial from stage 1 if you want to get more items.

Yeah i didnt realise you had to press trial everytime before loading the autosave is all. And yea i did beat stage 100 but not in the way described due to starting in such bad shape
