Picking up Black Orbs
Did anyone else have trouble picking these things up. Either its gambits interfering with them or the "hit box" to pick them up is tiny. Running to it and seeing the prompt pop up then immediately disappear and by the time i turn around it flies away. If you disable gambits tho you can die pretty easy due to the cheap♥♥♥♥♥overload on status ailments like every other cheap boss. Even tried fleeing what good is that if you ate stopped everyone as you get to the door and gambits interfered. So you can also see them fly off to make a massive orb...only they rarely do that and just fly off into nothing as ive followed them through the walls to the rooms they look like they fly too.

I saw these type of item/movement physics happen when picking up items in FF15. Part of me is like is this input lag on my tv but when you consider its only ever happened in two games and both are recent FF titles...meh

Easily the most infuriating thing for me in this game is either this or havung to disable gambits just to press x on something. Cant express how much i hate the subterra. Totally killed the fun. Where are the ribbons at?

Here's the trick to picking up black orbs: don't play on x2/x4 speed. You have all the time in the world on normal. Just turn it down, pick up orbs, then back up.

There's no need to pick up all the individual black orbs in the subterra. Just keep killing stuff in each of the corner rooms and look for the massive black orbs (fixed and huge, you can't miss em), there's at least one per floor. Not picking up the individual black orbs will dramatically increase the amount of orbs you get from the massive balls (I think you get at least a 2:1 return for doing this). You can easily get 99 black orbs at a time this way. In addition, if you see a massive orb, kill everything in the area to max out the orb motherlode before you pick that baby up. There's no hurry, it won't disappear unless you zone out.

Also it's easy to farm black orbs on the first few levels of the First Ascent, those ones you want to pick up individually as you're progressing thru normally, so you start with a nice stack when you go to tackle the subterra. There are no massive orbs in the First Ascent.

Also there is a Ribbon in the Abyssal but you will need to do some zoning back and forth to get it. 10% chance of appearing with a 100% ribbon chance I believe. There's also one in the Henne Mines Special Charter Shaft.

I still dont get why the exclamation mark disappears instantly. Either the calibration on my left analog stick is broken (if it was id notice it on other games). No amount of turning around gets it to pop up again. Could also be input lag on my tv but again never noticed it with any other game bar FF15 trying to pick up loot in that game too

the exclamation mark disappears because you have your gambits on.

also just like JDHski said, you aren't supposed to pick them up individually, they will fly into one of the corner rooms and multiply also.

to know which room just see which way they shoot off.

It does it with the gambits off

You can't interact with things while doing something else - that's casting spells or attacking, of course, but also such mundane things as drawing/sheathing weapons. Which is infuriating. You try three times and are interrupted, and the orb disappears because it's been too long. Yay.

Either turn down the game speed to regular, or just rely on massive orbs.

Ah yes i was just about to say i dont remember any of this interruption nonsense happening when i played the original...but there was no x2 or x4 speed then. Tbh both speeds make my eyes funny anyway so i only use it to speed up areas im running through trash areas where there is no reason to explore. Maybe i just didnt even do the subtera or it didnt exist. Really cant remember. Id have to load up my ps2 which i really cant be bothered to do lol. Last time i did that i saw all hunts were complete and id got bored farming for tournesol. Probably because i was going out of my way to create a sword that would be used on absolutely nothing just for completionist sakes. I was already pissed off about losing zodiac spear forever as well due to the dumb loot mechanic they had so that probably affected my reasoning as well
