Anyway, have a look there, that's pretty much a full guide on the espers, including strategies for the fights and when they're available.

Seriously, as was said above, can't stress enough how little levels mean in this game. I know it runs counter to what most RPGs are like, but really, focus on equipment and licenses above all else. Take levels as incidental bonuses that just happen on the way to good gear. And nothing else.
I think it's because other guides say try and be at least level 30 for the Mateus fight and to grind up often to hit higher levels etc so it gets a bit confusing
Next hardest of the optionals, IMO, are Zeromus, Chaos, and Cu Chulain, so maybe 40+ for them? Rest can be comfortably done at whatever level+gear combo you'd have when the game sends you through that area. Chaos in particular can definitely be easier to fight than the enemies in Nabudis, especially since his Esper gimick is easy to work around.
In FF12, Levels are mostly a gradual HP boost and damage boost, you probly need 30 or 40 levels to compete with the HP from the License board(pending on class combo), and 50 to 60 levels to compete with the damage boost from top end equipment. Because of this, unless you go into the 80s or higher, Licenses and equipment are probly the majority of your stats.
Adrammelech is a flying creature, so you won't be able to damage it without long range weapons (or poles, or spears) and magicks.
Zalera has tons of undead minions spawning in waves, and must be defeated within a time limit, so your damage output must be decent.
Cuchulainn gradually saps your HP (percentage based, so spells like Bubble won't help),
therefore you need someone on constant healing duty.
Zeromus locks your magick command, and has an endless supply of minions, so you must rely on items to fight him.
Exodus locks your item command, so you'll need good magic healers and someone with Raise.
Chaos locks your auto-attack, so you must rely on magicks to beat him (I think technicks such as Souleater works, too).
What level, when level, how level?..... please stop that guys and realise the fact that gear and licenses are way more important than levels.
I would 1 000 times prefer having a level 1 party equiped with mid game gear than a lvl 99 party equiped with the starting gear .
Don't worry James, i don't say that because of you, since you seem to be a rare polite person, but it's just simply incredible on this forum how often we see questions about levels.
Questions about gears/spells and technics would be interesting.
Anyway, have fun with the espers and the nice music that goes with it.
And don't forget to come back later to tell us wich one is your favourite. Personnally my favourite is ultima.
Guns help, but I've been doing 1000 damage with a Bushido/Monk combo Basch. So it's not like it's limiting.
Honestly, like everyone has said: Equipment matters more. I'm struggling against the Wild Malboro (compared to Carrot it spews and does Soul Etude faster than I can counter with the reverse Remedy) because of that. 2000-3000 HP with Bubble turns into like 5000-6000 which isn't going to help against status effects being spammed at you.
As for the Summons, it's pretty much the same thing but I haven't gone out of my way to grab them yet.
I guess you already know it, but just in case, shell helps a lot to make negative status effects miss their target.
Nah, Nihapaola + Remedy to make Silence. It'll purge the Silence eventually, Reddas and Basch being meat-shields/damagers (with Reddas doing 1000 Needles repeatedly) while Fran (Archer) and Balither (Machienst) do damage from afar.
Once it hits HP Critical, it'll start to do that Estus Soul or whatever ability to regen HP to full. I can throw a Remedy at it to silence it, but by the time that ready message happens, it's too late because despite being silenced like 2 milliseconds after, it'll top-off.
I don't have reverse (currently), I'm trying to get 32 of the 40 Hunts I have on board done to get it. I'm like 25-28 Marks down. Just a matter of finding the "easy" ones to get done and get Reverse.
forgot the regen thing it does. Therefore "slow" could help having the time to silence it don't you think?
Anyway once it's silenced, this marlboro won't be able to use regen twice, right?
I'm not sure but i think this mark may have the anti evade passive ability, so shields here,well....
if you only meant they are just "tankier" than your ranged char thanks to bigger HP pool and heavy armors, that's fair enough.
20 levels can be a HUGE difference in damage with the same licenses/weapons.
Anyone who says levels don't matter that much honestly don't know what they're talking about.
