Any good ways to make money in this game?

I'm broke keeping up with the equipment upgrades and don't know what loot materials are safe to sell other than needing the great serpenskin for a side quest.

You'll need to look up loot guides to determine what is good for you and what isn't. I can suggest the Mines at Bhujerba. The dead drop some great stuff that if you build chains for, can bring in a lot of gil. If you are higher level, this is made even easier. They even sometimes drop equipment, which you can sell for even higher.

Forbidden Fruits or Bone Fragments are good early ways to make money.

You might also want to look up a guide on how to get some OP gear for free, so you don't have to buy much apart from replenishing items and getting spells/skills.

If you don't want to look things up yet, just sell everything (other than loot) you don't need; steal from every enemy you fight; try to chain them for better drops.

If you don't want to think about which loot you can and can't sell, as a general rule, you'll be fine if you keep 10 of everything and sell the rest.

Almost anything that you'd want more than 10 of for several different recipes is very likely going to be something that's easy to farm.

Once you get to a point where you can buy the Cat Ear Hoot accessory, you'll be able to get more money than you'll know what to do with in a very short time.

Also, if you feel like farming a bit, get the diamond armlet from trial mode 1 (it sells for 6k), finish the 1st stage, leave trial, and repeat.

The point that I no longer had money issues was when I chained a bunch of Panthers from the start of the Golmore Jungle. You can easily get 40 to 50 in a chain (just make sure you don't touch the save crystal when you run past it to reset the spawns) and get a bunch of Couerl Pelts that sell for over 400 gil a pop.

Seld a couple stacks of 99 pelts and that was the end of my money troubles.4X speed is your friend for this kinda thing, too.

Early Game: Skeletons in the Lhusu Mines
Mid-game: Tentacle psycho horses in the Zertinian Caverns or farm equipment in the two northernmost areas of the Estersand. All the chests there have a high chance of containing mid-range equipment.
Late Game: Cat-Ear Hood or gather Blood-darkened Bones from high-level skeletons. Best spot is the Overlooking Eternity area in the Nabreus Deadlands.

End Game: Killing Magick Pots with Cat-Ear Hoods. Up to 300K gil per kill, unless you play New Game Minus, then you gotta stick with the blood bones.

Generally you should keep all loot that is either worth very little (Pebbles excluded) or items which are worth a lot and you only get in small numbers.

Arcana/High Arcana are only worth 10/20 gil each.
Gemsteel, Serpentarius, Soul of Thalmasa etc. are worth 1,5K to 2K gil.

That's the kind of stuff you gotta look out for unless you got dozens of it.

Golmore Jungle Kill Coeurls for their Coeurl pelts then sell them in Euryt village; you will gain loads of cash pretty quickly.

Start at the Blue save crystal to the south in Ozmone Plain and chain all of them, then go two screens away and repeat until you get 99 then sell them in Euryt Village.

Selling loot from enemies. Sounds like you're still early in the game. A good early place to farm for loot are the tomoato enemies in Ogir-Yensa Sandsea for their Succulent Fruit. A stack of those will give you a lot of gil for the level

for early farming in the game, once u reach the lushu mine, u can farm bone armor from skeleton warrior, just keep the chain up

The Skeletons from just about anywhere always drop great loot, early on or later on. If you are very early on though, like you're just Vaan, the desert is the best place getting chains on wolves.

Under options, there is a setting to give yourself 99.999.999 gil.
