Magic Pot (how to defeat)
i was talking with other players about this ennemy in an other thread.
And it seems many players are struggling killing this little evil beings.

So today i did some testing and thought it could maybe help some of you guys.
I'm also sure many of you could bring other tipps to the table here, so feel free to do so.

So, if you want to kill a pot, there are obviously 2 different ways to do it:

1. You toss an elixir at him so he won't fight back and so he will take way more damage.
So in other words you are simply weakening him a lot, making the fight a lot more easier.

Beware though that with this method , the magic pot will keep on fleeing all around the area making undeads spawn as your party is chasing him.
So, either clear the area before engaging the pot with an elixir, or set up gambit accordingly:

-Ennemy undead.............................attack
-Ennemy higher max level ..............steal or attack (depending if you already stole an elixir or if you just don't care about elixirs)

So this was the easiest and common way to do it.

2. You engage this ennemy without using any elixir

With this method the fight is much harder, so prepare your party with all the buffs you can.
What is very important, is to have buble+haste on everyone and a tank character with lure equiped with the best shield you have.

A berserker is also needed here, and because the pot isn't weakened, his defense will be to high for most of your weapons (even the famous zodiac spear, yes you read well.). Guns ignore physical defense, so equip your best gun on your berserked machinist (with bravery of course).

Finally use your tank and your third party member to keep buffs on and to heal your team.
if you do everything right, the pot should go down after a little while.

In case everything goes wrong and your tank is killed, just zone out to rebuff and zone back in for the "finish him" move.

i will maybe try to make more testing with offensive magics, but if i remeber well from my PS2 experience, magic isn't working if you don't weaken him (too high magic defense stats). So let us know guys.

have fun everyone!

Meh, I just ignore them. If you accidentally hit one and aggro it just run away. Unless you’re hard up for LP or cash (which by this point you shouldn’t be) there is no point in going through the aggravation of killing it, easy way or the hard way.

i know some players simply want to know how to kill it instead of having to avoid it or run away from it.
Moreover it can help unlocking the bestiary entry and the related trophy at the same time.

I gotcha. Nice guide though for sure! These things can really mess you up if you go ripping through the Subterra without knowing where they are and accidentally whack one.

Throw it an Elixir, it'll become vulnerable to attack... alternatively Nihopalaoa + X-Potion to cheaply dispatch it without spending an elixir (which relatively hard to come by and quite tactically advantageous). If you're also swimming in money due to Cat-ear Hood abuse (like, I have 25 million gil), Gil Toss technick also works. Slowly you can also use 1000 Needles.
The Niho X potion trick is interesting..didn't think about that.
I don't think i will ever use it but it's a nice info, so thanks for it mate!

if you like fun AND challenge go in the feywoods and kill the "vegetable gang" rare game when they have reached the lvl 99.
For that, Kill all monsters in the area to make them spawn, then zone out and back in to meet them.
But let them running away from shrine to shrine instead of killing them straight away, so they will start to sing a special song and will buff themselves to lvl 99.

Then It's boss time for you! So come back to share if you do this please.

Fair enough.
Yeah, i'll maybe add their location if someone else ask for it, but i think most players who want to know more about them have already come accross them once at least, so...
Anyway, they can be found in every corner of the last area of the Pharos subterra and i think there is 1 or maybe 2 magic pots to be found in each other areas of the subterra.
See ya.

The easiest way of defeating the Magick Pots without an Elixir is Gil Tossing them to death. Guaranteed 7000 damage every time as long as no other monsters are around to split it.
Pretty sure that's why technicks are disabled when you face one at trial level 91.

It's gonna cost you 50K gil to kill one, but if you got some Cat-Ear Hoods it's still profitable since they award 123 LP each.
That's 30750 gil for every level 50 character with a Hood. Double that at max level.

Very nice info again, thanks.
Wow, 7 000 is just insane! i guess you're right and the devs considered it to be kinda cheesy to kill the pot with this technick.
