Uhlan / Black Mage decent?

I feel the Uhlan would benefit greatly from a Black Mage by having a larger aresenal of spells and incrreased magic lore... but the Black Mage doesn't seem like it would benefit that much from the Uhlan side of things?

The time mage would be a better option it seems.

Well I was going to have a Knight / Time Mage in the same party... Time Mage seems to lag behind in Magik Lore

I imagine and a Knight / Black Mage and Uhlan Black mage vs a Knight / Time Mage and Uhlan / Time Mage would be somewhat similar? Though I also intended to have a Red Mage / Shikari ... 3 black magic casters would probably be pretty redundant. In which case I'd prolly drop the Red Mage for a White Mage. Or maybe give Uhlan / Red Mage and Shikari / Black Mage

time mage sucks, u can get hastga drops from enemy

on the ps4 my current builds are,
Vaan - knight
Balthier - Red Mage (debuffs galore)
Fran - Foebreaker (she hits like a brick)
Basch - Bushi
Penelo - white mage

they have worked out ok for me and havent been killed yet

The thing about Uhlan is usually you're best off just auto-attacking. Casting spells detracts from that idea a lot. Why Time Battlemage is usually recommended is that Time Magicks are cast rather infrequently, so it doesn't distract too much. Machinist would be another good choice, as it gives some item support as well as speed, and with Famfrit Esper you can get access to Hastega anyway.
