Not by much. Only by a few points stat wise which makes dwl better.
zs - 141 atk, 8 evd, cmb 4%, knockback 10
dwl - 108 atk, 40 evd, cmb 10%, knockback 10, status effect 50% disable
Some stats from attack are put into evade as well as combo rate being higher AND it gives the DISABLED status effect. Clearly better than zs.
And Dustia farming is still an exploit but they didn't fix it.
Funny you should say that. One of my favorite things to do was run Vaan to the Nalbina Fortress as soon as possible, (I think you could do it even before meeting Penelo in Giza Plains), buying an Iron Sword and wrecking for quite a bit. I think it was viable until you came out of the Barheim passage with Basch, Fran and Balthier, maybe further.
With the removal of the damage limit and the ease to get great gear via Trial Mode, it's nowhere near as hard to get high-end weapons as it once was. Also Zodiac Spear got a small nerf.
Though be aware while most of this is correct, some things have been renamed and there are some new additions like 2x/4x speed, removal of spell queueing, remastered and original soundtracks, for example, because this was written for the IZJS version, which is what TZA was based on.
*shudder*
