Favorite characters?

I really like Fran and Balthier, the idea of sky pirates is pretty cool and balthier seems like he knows what he's doing, kinda like the real main character (I really don't buy vaan as the main character). Fran's got a lot of personality as well, love her voice actress and her backstory was pretty interesting. The rest of the cast seems a bit to hither and thou for me (like cyan from FF6) but vaan and penelo are ok.

Ashe, Fran and Penelo. All the ladies, and not be coincidence. This game features a strong female lead. That's Ashe. And she's not even subjected to be covered up. Double A.

She's kinda boring to me so far, and over dramatic... But yea she is a strong female ready to fight to the death for her kingdom.

Yeah, the sighs are much. And Vaan does it too at times.
Fran, being quite silent but noble, is perfect. I love the way of the viera.
Penelo is there to keep Vaan in check.

Penelo is a fun character I like her voice actor, really as lame as vaan is i still like his interactions with penelo and the others. Basch is just the typical tough guy knight type.

I read in a wiki that vaan was suppose to be like a casual observer in the game and was suppose to be like a normal guy or something like kind of an awkward unlikely hero.

I don't think he's suppose to be bad@$$, even tho he's not bad in battle stat wise, in the story segments everyone treats him like a snot nose kid. But they send him on the social errands while everyone stands around hanging out lol.

Read that as well some place, a reddit debate most likely, and it does make sence. A decent idea, but dislike him none the less

Ashe and Balthier are obviously the lead characters. Its their story. Why some corporate suit thought they needed to inject Vann and Panelo I don't know. Appeal to a yonger (dumber) audience?

Both are haunted by their pass, and both have overwhelmingly strong personalities in comparison to the rest of the cast. Fran comes in third in my opinion (and no, not because she wears an armored bikini). I like the outcast thing, and her cool demeanor that's kind of pissy sometimes, like she is thinking "Humes...ugh!". Also, love the voice acting!

Basche is okay. I think they could have done a lot more with the brother thing. Or maybe given him some more personality.

Then there are the kids. ♥♥♥♥ them. The story would have been so much better if they were simply omitted. Let us start the story with Balthier and a smuggling run gone a awry. Or perhaps skip the whole "princess in disguise bit" and have us start as Ashe escaping from the Imperial forces.

I'd have enjoyed two more characters from the other races (nu mou, bangaa, seeq, and moogle) more than Vaan and Penelo. I understand their point in the story, but it could have been accomplished better by following Balthier and Ashe's stories directly after Basch's opening sequence.

It's a low gripe, though. Plenty of other things on the wish list.

I somewhat like Balthier but sometimes he feels forced. Like, "How many stage references can we cram in? Surely we can fit 3 more!"
