Absolutely official Hunt servers would be dead within weeks.
For:
- fun matches between friends
- introducing new friends to the game in a less harsh way
- if you don't want to do pvp or don't want to use the small shooting range
I see no reason besides "it's a lot of work", but they did it for the shooting range too.
Custom game wouldn't give you rewards for extracting bounties and such, like the shooting range. Like in most games that have custom lobbies. So I believe the matchmaking wouldn't suffer a lot from that.
