Hunt: Showdown 1896

Why Slate is so horrible?
It costs 333 dollars over 188 for Specter.
It has lesser kill-range, even if by only 1 meter less.
And sure, it has faster re-fire rate/fire rate. Plus lacks the need for Bullet Grubber.

BUT MY GOD, what's up with that almost aim-punch like recoil that sends your aim to the ceiling with each shot? Who thought this is a good idea? For higher price, you're getting a worse gun. Why? What's the point?

Every shot is like aim-punch... But it's YOUR shot. And YOU are getting aim-punched.

But just as it kicks your aim up to the ceiling in a blink of an eye, it instantly pulls it back down to where it was at the same speed. It seriously throws-off aiming, big time.

Specter has recoil too with each shot. Yes, it kicks up a bit. But that's the key - "a bit". While Slate kicks you up to the sky, then pulls back down.

So why would I ever pay *more money* for a *worse* gun?
slate is arguably the 2nd or 3rd best shotty in the game...not exactly sure how you think it is a worse gun when you are comparing it to somethin like the specter or even the crown(yes i know you didnt mention the crown....im throwin it in due to its RoF as it is semi comparable to that of the slate)

I went from using Specter bayonet all the time to slate ripsote. I like being able to cut wire with the slate and not losing a shell on reload.
This kill range didnt exist anymore and yes you dont need Bullet graber and a big+. Save points for an onther perk you dont lose ammo. Specter need more time to reload.
With Bullet graber you take the old shell put it again inside the camber and then you reload the new one. Slade is Press R and he reload.
Slate is contender for best shotgun lol

But do you really need that faster reload thing? Especially if the downside to "compensate" for said bonus is paying more(compared to Specter) and hella uncomfortable recoil that feels like aim-punch instead?
Slate hits harder than my dad, what are you talking about it being horrible? its like hitting an infant with a brick. its like going seal clubbing but with a gun inside close quarters.

Specter does the same. For lesser price and with less recoil. In fact... Specter does 210dmg vs 203dmg on Slate.

So it also has less dmg on top of having worse aka stronger recoil (20 vs 26, whatever these numbers mean) and bigger spread (60 vs 70, whatever these numbers mean). Plus the whole price thing and 1 meter less kill-range.

So really... Do the whole bullet-grubber and slightly faster reload compensate for the extra price and obnoxiously high recoil that feels like aim-punch instead?

slate doesnt require bullet grubber, so thats one less useless trait you have to worry about.

I feel fine using Specter *without* the need for bullet grubber. There's usually more than enough ammo all around to compensate for that occasional lost bullet or two.
it's not the slate the hitreg and rng in this game is ass. Just buckshot a guy on the chest point blank TWICE with teh slate and apparently "m-m-muh pellets" only did 40 damage? lol not to mention the kill cam is inconsistent and buggy so that doesn't help at all
Why are you talking about the recoil on a shotgun, are you using a gamepad or something?

Show me a clip of you doing that.

Specter is great, but specter bayonet sucks. It has a ton of spread, very poor range compared to the base gun.

Shorter barrel on the bayonet compared to base.
I just like having something with a blade.

Slate is my favorite shotgun, IMO it, and Crown and king, both with slugs, are the two best. Simply. Its range is totally fine, the rate of fire, together with more shots (than caldwell), makes it very good. The price is absolutely justified.
Btw im 5 star, frequent 6 star. 2300 hours. Edit: use Iron Devastator!

I'm talking about recoil on a pump-action shotgun exactly because Slate (unlike Specter) sends your crosshair up towards the ceiling in a split-second, then instanly falling back down to the original position. Exactly like if you were "aim-punched" by being hit. This throws the aim off, hard. Especially if you're playing a solo and trying to rush a duo. Yeah, one-tapped the first guy, but then your aim is so off due to this "aim-punch recoil" that you simply can't follow-up at the second guy accurately enough.

Which... is not the case for Specter, that has much lesser recoil that doesn't feel like aim-punch at all.
