Game now crashing every other time I open map

Okay is anyone else having a problem where they open their map, and then the game just freezes? I've had it happen twice in a row now.

I've seen some others mentioning the same problem, and it's been two to three days with no word from CryTek on it.


It's not my graphics drivers. They're fully up to date. It's not running the game in admin mode, it's already set to run as admin. I do not need to do a clean reinstall of my OS, I'm not reformatting my drive for a single game that is notorious for having these kinds of problems, nor should I nor anyone else have to.

Anyone got any other suggestions? Any ideas?

Yep confirmed its the map. My friend and I get a frozen screen just after opening and closing the map. We then need to quit the game and boot again! Very odd bug

By any chance, do you have the map key set to Tab? I'm honestly wondering if it's doing something because of the tab button.

All I know is I just managed to find, kill, and banish the spider, and then 5% from getting to get the tokens, the game crashed when I checked my map and a duo team came in and yoinked the bounty from me, then killed me just as I was reloading. Which is really cool, it really makes me want to play this game more, it definitely makes me want to buy the battle pass. /sarcasm

I almost wonder if the tab button is doing something that's causing an input error, but I'm not exactly willing to get back into yet another game, do good again, and then get frozen out in the middle of a situation where I need to figure out where I'm going next in a hurry, so that someone else can come and gank my helpless soulless character.

As an additional note, I checked Event Viewer and nothing came up, so whatever error occurred, it wasn't anything to do with drivers, hardware, or firmware. But then a bunch of other people aren't experiencing this error, so... I dunno what gives.

I don't have the map key on TAB and it crashes in ~50% of the games I play.

Well crap there goes my last idea on what the problem/fix is, then... But, thanks for letting me know, saves me trying it myself, because right now my patience for this game is at a rarified premium and I just don't feel like dealing with it. I've gone off in other threads before about this game but now I'm out of actual anger, and I'm just stuck with bitter resignation.

My group has come to the realization it might have to do with banishes. We have crashed so many times from checking our map right as another team starts a banish, or if the map is opened during a banish at all it seems to roll a dice to see if it crashes or not. When no banishes are happening not a single one of us have ever crashed from opening the map. I have my map on alt, one of my buddies has tab, and the third has it on his mouse. We all crash the same way

It's probably something to do with a memory leak being caused by the overlay effects on the map that show up when the boss is banished. Something isn't rendering right in the engine or it's throwing an exception on the overlay renderer.

So basically we're all sh!t outta luck until CryTek fixes it. I just hope they're actually aware of it.

Ok so I am not alone on this crap. Does anyone else try to join back in and get a white screen with some detail?
Happened twice now and I can't fully rejoin unless my team leave the map, possibly dies

Same bug just happened to me in my second game since the latest patch. My team was going into a fight with two other trios and I opened my map. The game immediately froze. I reconnected 3-4 minutes after alt+f4-ing with my teammates dead. So I was left 1v3 against the remaining team; got two but died to the third.

With how long EAC takes to properly shut down when you close the game, this problem is so much worse, since the chance of you missing all of the action before you return is so much higher.

Just like the reload bug, using your map is such a core game component that, if it doesn't work perfectly every time, I lose all desire to play the game. I don't want to waste my Hunt bucks, an existing hunter, or my free time playing the game when a mechanic you use dozens of times in a match has the chance of malfunctioning and forcing you to quit and reconnect.

I didnt have this kind of problem until today.I have played i think 10 games and 6 of them got froze when i tried to open the map. And the i tried to reconect but i couldnt the game just froze on the restoring game and then again it froze once more. i lost so many fights time and dollars for nothing im just firius at this pont.
