Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896

I don't want to lose my hunter.
I suck at this game, I have like 6 hours. I don't want to permanently lose my hunter if I die. It really puts me off playing this game because "oh if you don't extract then you're gonna lose all your progress"
What actually does save if I lose my man?

EDIT: Some people are pretty hollow-headed in this reply section. THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT. I was simply wondering how the feature worked and I don't want it to happen to me, so some advice or info would be great! There's no need to call this some "Lame complaint" or to "play another game" But thanks anyway!

All of that can be replaced. The hunter/character is more like a disposable piece of gear than a real investment. The traits and upgrade points are nice, but it's only a slight bonus and you are going to do it again anyway.

As for why you are going to do it again. When playing, you are trying to level up your bloodline to make new guns available as you level. To level up bloodline, you level hunters. At various milestones as a hunter levels, you get some bloodline xp. And when a hunter is maxed all their xp goes direct to your bloodline xp.

It's still a bit faster to switch up hunters and use different hunters. As well as variety of playstyle is also interesting, so one hunter gets traits that are good with lever action, and a different hunter gets shotgun traits and other hunters get other traits, dependent on what you want when you pick traits for each hunter.

Simply put, hunters are meant to be disposable. You aren't really losing much because they are meant to be lost.

All the spice comes from the fear of losing your hunter.

Your hunter dying means you lose any skill points you had on that hunter, as well as equipment and traits on that hunter. This isn't as big a deal as it seems, because you can get skill points to rebuy your traits, and your weapons are permanently unlocked until you prestige.

It's not as bad as something like SCUM or Ark, where dying means you lose everything.

agreed, but is there a way i can opt out of the spice?

Your gear that you go in with is lost, and any XP and/or traits you have applied or gained on your character.

It's not that bad though. Hunt Showdown is pretty forgiving when it comes to extraction shooters. You can always just buy another character with in-game dollars, and unless you go on a massive losing streak, you'll have enough in-game dollars no problem.

Skill, I don't see anything else. Hmm maybe deviousness...

Did you not watch reviews or read them before buying? This is a really, really lame complaint.

This game just is not for you then.

Core mechanic so that not everyone always runs around with a max lvl hunter with all the good traits. Hunters are meant to be expendable. Kinda like roguelike games in that sense. Your real progress is what you gain outside of that - money, xp, unlocks, prestiges.

Just play, you get used to it quickly.
And you do not lose that much...

Gear fear. We all been there. Hunt changed a lot to make this beginner friendly. You will get a free hunter with good traits for free unless you reach a certain amount of money. After a while you will simply burn through your hunters without even carying anymore.

You should play something different.... :-)
Its part of the GAME.

I'm a player between average and good I would say and with a start that costs me 600 min (+100 with legendary hunter) that each time I'm at 150k so money is not really a problem in Hunt.
You can play every game with the equip you like.
kebab Aug 15, 2024 @ 11:50pm
honestly it doesnt really mean much, just get a new hunter and go again. there isnt really any gameplay reason to save hunters.
Der Atzenkeeper Aug 15, 2024 @ 11:59pm
its not so baad if you lose your hunter. your overall progress is saved in your bloodline (account) XP, so your progress will not be lost.
money is usually not a problem, and with the new progression system you can buy all the guns right away anyways.
hunters level super fast, so its really no problem losing one.
