There are reasons for change and they made a very ambitious change. But too much of their effort is just burying useful features under several layers of menus, and apparently also behind bugs that are removing inventory for no reason.
If we had choices about the interface. Choices about controls in the interface. And didn't have to go through basically 11 different screens and menus to equip a hunter if we don't use loadouts, then I would be much more willing to give it a chance.
But it has had it's chance at the end of my first day, I feel like I had to struggle through menus for half of my playtime today. I can learn this system, but why am I learning this system, I thought I was going to play hunt, not learn a non-intuitive menu system that hides and complicates basic features.
I experienced what was said above where if you have a loadout with 2 of the same consumable stacked, when buying and equipping the loadout it doesn't equip any of the double stacked consumable and only has 1 copy of the consumable in the inventory.
Hopefully they can iron out the bugs.
Me and a friend who play it regularly, we eventually got used to where everything is and we know enough about the game to clearly be able to just set up hunters and get into the next match.
That said when we try to get a third friend who plays way less frequently, they always struggle to navigate the menus. And it's not just 1 person. Several people we had got in as a 3rd struggle to find their way around things and actually doing things.
I'd say the UI is bad regardless, but it affects newer players more, and in a way creates a barrier to getting people into the game.
