How does the new poison damage work exactly?
Wasn't poison bullet base damage supposed to be increased to match normal ammo base damage? Shouldn't that in theory make sparks poison a 1hk for anyone not running antidotes? What am I missing? I've been using the silenced sparks with poison for the last two matches. I shot 4 different people multiple times, but only 1 person died, so I doubt the poison is doing anything. I'm sure I'm not understanding it correctly, but it seems a standard sparks round is still superior to poison.

It only 1 hits if its a headshot or they are missing health. as far as i know the only reason people are bringing poison is so they can't heal for a good 10-15 sec and blurred vision unless they have antidote or mithridiast.

normal ammo will always be better for piercing because yeah incendiary and poison can't hit through anything.

I typically only use poison on the hand crossbow, so I guess I never understood how poison works on bullets. I thought everything poison dealt damage over time like bleed, but I guess only poison darts and bombs do that?

yeah the clouds/mist they leave will damage over time where as with ammo its just an initial poison debuff.

As far as i'm aware incendiary and bleed ammo will increase in intensity/speed the more bullets you land, i would assume poisons effect lasts longer with more shots as well. Though its very rare you need more than 2 or 3 shots anyways.

but yeah it works similiar to dum dum and incendiary just to stop people from topping up so you can get that pistol swap kill or maybe a second shot without them being able to heal.

I personally like to bring incendiary on one spark ammo slot to deal with all pve and to one tap barrels.

Being poisoned by itself does not decrease your HP. It blurs your vision, stops your natural health regeneration and stops you from healing. The only time you're taking damage from poison itself is by standing in the poison clouds released by poison crossbow bolts, poison/bee barrels and the poison cloud spit by the spider. As for the bees of hives, they're dealing direct damage to you plus adding the poison effect.

You can alway take secondary which has penetration.

Poison bolts on the hand crossbow leave a small poison cloud that damages over time, the poison itself is not a damage over time effect, like bleed is, for example.

All the poison ammo does is apply the poison effect, which distords the player's vision and hearing and prevents them from healing/regenersting health for the duration of the effect.
No damage over time and no extra damage either.

Just tried the centennial for the first time after the patch and it feels really good. The fire rate is a lot better and the poison ammo feels like a straight upgrade. I never really used it for its bullet pen, just its high velocity. I'm currently pairing it with the terminus shorty and flechette for that sweet poison/bleed combo.

Maybe players will have to resort in using the severely neglected antidote shot. I used to take one back in the day but Crytek nerfed it (no longer reduces physical damage from the spider and hive swarms) so I stopped using it. However, with poison ammo being buffed, I might have to take it again.
I never stopped using antidotes. The blurry poison effect always used to glitch out on me and I'd spend about 1 in 5 of my games with my vision slowly pulsing in and out of focus. That and being unable to heal is enough for me to want to keep using antidotes. And the nerf in time isn't a huge factor since most of my games finish within the timer or I can top off an extra 10 minutes with antidotes I find in-game.

True, that infinite poisoning bug is annoying. I only had it once but many players did report that issue and it's been in the game for too long.

For whatever reason, I wasn't that successful in looting weak antidote shots from consumable boxes and dead hunters (especially with that annoying ass bug that prevents you from getting anything off a dead hunter). I kept on getting chaos bombs.
I started running concertina/poison trap combos after the antidote nerf because absolutely no one ran poison resist and I started stacking bodies with traps. But because I started running traps, I also run frontiersman, packmule, and usually vulture as well to restock my tools. That's why I get so many antidote shots in-game.
Sparks, Poison and uppercut explosive anywhere near. Amazing

I thought the uppercut explosive got nerfed to the point of being useless. what's the radius?

Oh yeah, those. I haven't done it in bounty hunt but if I did get lucky enough in quick-play, I did put down concertina and poison trip mines. It's an insanely good combo that kills players.

In bounty hunt though, most players usually either see the trip mines and disarm or avoid them, or don't even care to push compounds. I stopped bringing trip mines for that reason and saved cash.
Players have been getting smarter about checking for traps in boss lairs, so I've started placing them along the edges of compounds where players are likely to enter at and I'm having more success that way. And if they do disarm them, I'm usually within earshot so I can ambush.
