Game no longer runs on 7 after last update, time to upgrade your system.
Kaefergeneral Oct 18, 2022 @ 12:18pm
lol. Who still runs Win7?
Upgrading is free, and you get better gaming performance on Win 8 and 10.

Yeah, these guys are nuts. I understand where they're coming from to an extent, but Jesus... Even 10 seven or more years old. Just fresh install 11. No 11 is not god awful compared to 10, performance will be the same give or take and debloat/disable the stuff you don't like. Anyone saying otherwise is deluded. These are just the same people that were saying 10 sucks, and they'll be saying 12 sucks when they're on 11.

If you want bare bones use IoT LTSC 2021.

i understand all stuff around... should move forward .. progress.. blablabla... but cant understand the way they do it ! you buy a game, it supports...you run it ... enjoyIT. All 11 years instaling same win7 and happy withIT. Just when the patch went live, people with Windows 7 noticed something was broken and reported it. So what did they do? They silently updated their shop information ")

Tomorrow wheyll say you need rtx 9090 to run it.
Paft Oct 18, 2022 @ 12:56pm
Windows 7 has also been end of life for 2+ years. Just dual boot into a fresh 10/11 or IoT LTSC 2021.

It might not even be a Crytek "issue" but actually EAC? I don't care enough to look into it because I don't use 7.

When the creators of Windows stop supporting Windows 7: I sleep
When some random game dev stops supporting Windows 7: I AM BECOME DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS!

Maybe it's time to move on. We get it, you like the good ol' reliable, but it's practically ancient history already. You can't expect it to last forever.

Ok . anyway hunt is ~cool, except the bushlovers" guys

Being a developer myself I can just say, that's not always something you choose. And they likely didn't choose to ditch Win7. They likely simply implemented something that the old Win7 Kernel does not support.
This usually is the reason for CPUs, GPUs, and Operating systems not being supported anymore. At some point, you simply reach a stage, where not the game developers ditch you, but you, or in this case your OS, ditches them. Simply becasue it can not handle the instructions necessary to run the came.
Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7 over two years ago. So there might simply be stuff that is not maintained by Microsoft anymore leading to the new issue.

And then you have to put this into perspective further, maintaining backward compatibility, even if possible is usually hard and requires a lot of effort. Overall the share of users running Win 7 on Steam is at 2.6%. These will mostly be machines aged machines not capable of running Hunt in the first place. So the Hunt player base running Win 7 is likely significantly less than 1%.

Yeah total bs. 7 and 10 are both 64bit OS's and the game uses directx11 which is perfectly compatible with 7. There is no technical reason why the game should not work. They just want to use win10's better data collection abilities, and if they cant collect your data, they dont want you running their game. Total bs, im done with hunt, time to play Marauders.

I dont want the ms cloud on my OS, or the xbox app... or the stupid microsoft store.. or Edge reinstalling itself every update, or forced updates for that matter... 10 is awful. 11 is even worse..

I dont want a wanna-be-phone OS..

And for the people saying there isnt hardly any 7 players, there has been a lot of people complaining about it... just go through the discussions and look, there is quite a few. Hunt devs dont give a crap about the player base, thats pretty obvious with this update. (In more ways than one..)
