How's the game right now?

I used to play before the big update back in August and a friend wants to know if it's worth getting into but I don't want him to have a bad time if I can help it

Nope, servers are jacked with atrocious ping. Bugs literally everywhere that will make you lose hunters. New weapons that take spray and pray to a whole new level. Avoid at all cost for right now. Your friend will literally end up hating this game if you join now.

Give it some time maybe, Fail-Tek needs to fix a bunch of issues the game has... if they ever do that is. Balance is questionable, server are getting worse by the patch, hit-reg is garbo, trades was good but now making a return and still no word on cheaters.............

We had some great games the past few nights, but a few of us kept running into that shadow bug where everything turns blk making it so hard to see. The server crashed about seven times, after the update in one day, or so kicking everyone out. The hitbox has also been really off lately. It’s pretty standard after an ‘update fix’ haha! Right after the update, my team and I were dealing with all these bugs and constant disconnects.

Had a few server issues after update launched, there are occasional bugs and disconnects but in my experience it's not happening frequently, having a blast playing with friends but can't say it's the same experience with randoms. However forget MMR, even when I wasn't even prestige 1 I'd face stacks of prestige 100, I just accepted it as part of the game since it's very niche and doesn't have enough players for a "fair" system I guess.

games taken a nose dive since the august update, cryteks kind of asleep at the wheel here and they are lacking decent management to keep the developers on track. This game wont be worth touching until they really iron out the bugs that still persist since august, and the servers are fixed. rn you run about a 50/50 chance of having a laggy server. Cryteks failed to keep the promises they made before the august update. I wouldnt recommend this game to anyone right now.

2 good gasmes with good servers followed by 10 games where ppl lag from left to right and some other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. servers/netcode are so bad right now its unplayable. Fail-Tek does not care and will never make this better. they had years to work on this and nothing happened. game is a 10/10 but decitionmakers at crytek are a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥ that cant do ♥♥♥♥ but make it worse.

It highly depends if your friend likes western, zombies and pvp shooters.
If he is new he might take a while to learn the game, so you might best ask yourself if such a game would be useful for him, maybe let him first watch a stream for a bit so he sees what the game is about.

Also best check if your own PC can currently run it smoothly or you might not be able to play together. Most performance issues come from players that either run it with a very bad connection, outdated hardware, or to high settings.

And you will definitely have a few matches, where a lot will go wrong, but that is the same for all extraction shooters.
