Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Game won't launch (further details inside)
I've did a fresh reinstall of Hunt: Showdown this morning and I've tried to launch the game, but it just won't start.

Details are as follows: EAC loading screen pops up, then, after a while, it closes (just as usual, if I remember correctly). I've found a topic discussing a similar issue: link and I've tried again. I've closed all the background apps and used Task Manager to see what happens. Turns out that Hunt.exe (with EAC icon) runs, then closes (again, as it supposed to, I guess), then HuntGame.exe (with Hunt icon) launches, but it just "sits there" doing nothing; I've tried to wait up to 10 minutes, and the game won't start with the process just "sitting there" and Steam showing that the game is running.

I don't think verifying files/reinstalling would do anything, as I"ve just reinstalled the game this morning.

Any help/info on resolving this type of issue?

Yeah, I've figured it out myself today, that must be the reason. That's really sad. I guess I'll get back to Hunt another time once I'll be able to afford an update.

Is this the first time you have tried to play since the big 2.0 update?

If so read the updated TOS that were included with it. You can get your money back on the game under certain circumstances.

Yeah, I haven't played for more than a year now. Haven't followed closely what was going on with the game in that time too.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it, although I don't think I'll be asking for a refund. I'll probably have to upgrade some time in the future anyways, and I don't mind game gathering dust in my Steam library until then. =)

Games gathering dust in your library is what Steam was made for 😂
the same happens to me, I'll say goodbye until I can change my PC. It's a shame because just a few months ago I tried it, and it was running fine. It'll take me some time to return since I'm from Argentina LOL.
