What you can use it for is to easily kill bosses. But as a trap it's complete trash.
Ofc there are ways to redefine its idea (add a timer or gradient sound depending on distance, etc...), but crytek isnt famous for tuning stuff, i dont think they give a single sheeeeeeet about it...
Personally, I wouldnt count perk as counterplay, since perks are there to help you and not to resolve the problem just by the fact of having the perk.
You could use Vigilant and see all the traps there, but even without this perk you could evade them just by being careful and watching your steps (except for some bullshittey when beartraps are hidden by textures, but thats, I believe, is unintended by crytek). And if this dynamite-trap wouldnt make any sound you will be dead just by opening the door or entering it.
Vigilant is not only good for traps in low visibility situations (grass, water, textures hiding them), but it saves you time by not having to jump check for traps before vaulting and can even warn you about a possible ambush. All those benefits for a single point.
