-Losing items in this game is no big deal, it isn't like tarkov. You will lose all your equiptments but there isn't anything like body armor, custom optics, custom aattachments, etc. The cheapest gun in the game can still one hit kill to the head and 2 shot to the upper body at it's intended range. The cheapest shotgun is actually the most reliable shotgun and will onetap.
-The first few levels has a handicap system that allows you to keep you hunter and weapons even if you die
IMO the best advice I can give is this game is about patience and outplaying, all guns will 2 tap at their intended range so map and game knowledge is more important than flick aiming...I'd compare it to R6 Seige vs CS2.
Guns are based on ammo types compact (small), medium, long (there are shotguns and specials). Just think of that as range; compact is for fights between 10-25m, medium is about 25-50ish, and long ammo is anything further. For instance the frontier 73c will do 110dmg within 20m but will drop to 75dmg at 45m and those are upper chest shots, limb shots and lower chest shots will have steeper drops (players have 150hp max). So then you ask yourself why you want to use compact ammo over medium? Well it's cheaper but more importantly it fires faster, so a cheap 41$ frontier73c will theoretically outperform a 620$ mosin nagant within 20M or less. Oh yea all guns will onehit to the head at any range.
It's still a great game.
Awesome. I'm ok in losing matches if the game is still fun and rewarding once I secure a kill or two and safely extract. I won't be pulling my hair out if I tilt and have consecutive bad games? It seems the default stuff provides a nice safety if that happens.
Be prepared that you can play for a few hours and not guarentred to even get a kill.
Same with bounties it's pretty easy to kill and banish a boss, but keeping it and getting out alive is not easy.
Okay with that out of the way. You are going to have a tough time jumping in considering the game has been out so long, it will take a long time for you to adjust to how the game plays and you will die A LOT (almost an understatement).
You will be up against stiff competition, but your ears can be your best friend in this game because the sound design is one of the best in gaming (something as little as a twig snapping could be an enemy sneaking up on you). So make sure you have a headset, without one you will literally be useless to your team.
This is the most fun, rewarding and satisfying shooter and MP game I've ever played. It makes me wish there was more games out there like it.
1) It's the best and most mature "extraction shooter".
2) It's wild west based.
If both those sound appealing... get it.
I'm ok with dying over and over as long as the experience is still fun. Fun for me would entail having a pretty fair match up where I can learn from each death and enough dynamics where each encounter is something new to learn from until it bleeds into proper knowledge that translate to having greater success. In the adverse effect, not having fun would be getting cheesed over an over by a tactic that's not easily counterable. It doesn't seem like that exists in the game. I think in my limited knowledge, I have sat on this game due to losing stuff that takes a long time getting back. I want to be able to use the stuff I unlock or obtain right away but, then I fear a dumb mistake would leave me empty handed. And I get that's how these games go. But I also don't want to finally get something and then sit on it out of fear of losing it because I'm still learning the game.
I'm hoping that the default loadout or gear means I can still be competitive in order to obtain what I loss in a decent amount of time. Then again, if simply striving towards something is fun in this game, then that's gold to me. It's always about chasing the carrot on the stick.
And reddit... if there was a virtual matchstick that I could use to set that place ablaze, I wouldn't hesitate to strike it. ;)
In terms of the learning curve, what makes it steep for you?
i have 600 hours or so over 5 years and constantly get steamrolled by the sweatiest try hards you've ever imagined in gaming
its still fun but just know what you're getting into!
Also I think now is a good time to jump in, Crytek is now 100% focused on this game only as they've had some financial problems and they need this game to succeed for the company to stay afloat. Which sounds worrisome but since they need this game to survive they are doing their best to fix bugs and problems that have been present for years. After that, I expect we'll see some unexpected collabs and really fun events this year which will entice many new players.
It is perpetually and forever bugged, full of cheaters and any promise this game company makes that they're "working to fix" any of that crap is a flat out lie. They may be working on it, but because they all suck at doing their jobs, they fail every time to fix anything. What bugs they do fix are instantly replaced with either an old long forgotten bug that resurfaces or some brand new horror they created in their incompetence and lack of expertise in developing.
This game seriously is always ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in one way or another. Like, often game breakingly so. They do not give one single ♥♥♥♥ about making a quality product. They only care about releasing garbage as fast as they can and with consistency so that dummies will buy dlc for the FOMO skin. That is all they care about, making a profit.
They're also really good at making changes to the game that literally no body asks for, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ their game by doing so and then sometimes removing the stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up thing they added or change they made and claiming they, "listen to their community."
They have recently said that they will only be listening to the community on the subreddit for the foreseeable future. No joke. What that means is that 20-100 bedwetters on Reddit are going to control the future of this game, and holy ♥♥♥♥ thats going to be terrible.
I can't think of one single game I hope (and expect) to see fail in the coming years than Hunt.
♥♥♥♥ this game and its leadership and its fanbase. All ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
You're ranting and saying nothing that helps me. Provide details or examples so I have a clue what you're even saying, or don't and just go find a really soft pillow to punch. Maybe that'll help you.
