each new hunter level gives you a point that you can spend on traits and other stuff. You can get experience by doing shared stuff (like killing monsters, objectives, etc) and non shared stuff, like using those envelopes that will give you Hunter Experience (1000 xp normal envelopes and 2000 xp those that requires event marks). Finally, if you kill a teammate, you get penalized with -500 xp

I want to add to your already pretty good list that you also get additional hunter xp by picking up a downed hunter.

But yeah the easiest way is with the xp envelopes that require a pledge mark, you can get a hunter maxed out easily in a single match with little to no effort at all, it's also the best explanation why there might be a difference in hunter levels if one grabs the envelope and someone else maybe prefers to pick up a sealed cash register.

Alot of stuff adds up.
Kills, banish, looting bodies, or exp on the walls they probably pinged that you missed etc.

looting bodies doesn't give you exp, only killing/downing enemy hunters
