-most of the EU Playerbase is chinese and russian, most of the US playerbase is chinese, east asian and vietnamese.
region lock and make using a VPN a bannable offense? probably not going to happen.
what they could do is force-kick anyone with say more than 99ms (or on some servers, like SA, Oceania, Asia and RU more than 150ms or even 175ms (server coverage is poor here)).
force-kick = lose hunter and bingo no more high pingers, even those with VPNs.
but what about the players from regions that cannot connect to any server with reasonably good ping? South East Asia? South Africa? Argentina and Chile? They will have to offer refunds or make exceptions, as stated above, on some servers.
They are testing out the ping-based matchmaking right now, read the dev notes. They are trying to enforce some sorta ping-limit.
Not before April 2024
Past 3 days it's been non stop South Americans as teammates who 9/10 times don't speak English and most seem to speak Portuguese the whole match, which was gone when it was 110. At 140 I think they can just squeeze into the low ping threshold for NA East by a literal hair. Also noticed the ping abusing is back where it really seemed to be gone prior.
I hope after this little joke of a test they at least go back to 110, it was so much nicer.
I agree. It was SO much better with the lower ping limit. There was a noticeable difference from when they first implemented it.
I say just get rid of manual server selection all together. Have the game automatically put your group wherever it thinks is right.
that leads to VPN usage, see PUBG, as stated above.
only thing that would really, really fix it. would be a hard ping limit individually set per server.
it could be as low as 99ms in certain regions, namely EU & NA
going to be having the lowest population event yet coming up and yr asking to make it worse lol you people will bring this game down
How does automatically putting your group to the best option lead to VPN Usage?
nah, people coming from china and connecting to EU and US servers has brought this game down. never seen so many people quit over being put into fully chinese lobbies on their respective servers.
plus a bunch of them were cheating.
there's a rumor going 'round that there's an outsourced company working for crytek in china just to ban people using cheats, specifically in that region. something like 80%+ of the banned cheat users in this game were chinese.
most games in china require a full name, address and social security number sign-up process because of that, but this game doesn't.. so you do the math.
most of my friends, myself included, have quit this game because of chinese players on our servers.
read: "a team, or multiple teams, threw a bunch of dynamite sticks and there were traps on the ground so they must be cheating with new software to make it so they have INFINITE dynamite and INFINITE traps because i 100% knew there wasnt other teams. just trust me on it."
