Gamepad Auto-Aim is Cheating
So if you're playing on a Gamepad, the auto-aim will track players for you. It will track them even when they're out of sight! Hiding in bushes or trees where you think NO WAY anyone can see you. Doesn't matter, the auto-aim will show them right where you are. Behind a wall? Who cares! The auto-aim will pull your cursor to where you need to shoot through the wall! Way across a night-time map running through the trees? The player doesn't need to track you! The gamepad will tell them right where you are!

So great. Now that I know this, mouse + keyboard is ruined for this game and quite possibly the game is ruined. I'd like a mouse + keyboard only queue if it were possible.

LOL why not just give them an aimbot? In the context of THIS game, where EVERYTHING is about KNOWING WHERE THE OTHER PLAYER IS FIRST, just having the controller tell you where to look is 100% a game-breaking advantage. What the literal FFF?

EDIT: look it is wrong to call the system auto aim. But if you have not tried playing on a controller, then you don't know that the game does absolutely help you by pulling the crosshair towards where enemy players are. It doesn't aim for you, but it pulls the crosshair in the direction of enemy players and in a game like hunt where hiding is half the battle, that is an absolutely game-breaking advantage. It's insane. Go try it and see for yourself.

I don’t think it should even be optional. Both platforms should have their own independent ecosystems for every game, like they do here. Again any form of crossplay would be a death sentence for this game.

Exactly, its not a thing on PC. Unless of course you can go "go try and see" yourself and show us. Controler aim assist is console only.

I shouldn't have called it aim assist. It's not really a full auto aim or aim assist but the gamepad will pull the crosshair towards the general location of enemy players and in a game like hunt that is enough to give a game-breaking advantage.

That function you are descibing is called aim assist. But correct, it can indeed give game breaking advantages in games like call of duty or apex where even the best mouse and keyboard players switched to controller to stay competitively.

That being said, that is not a thing for Hunt.
Because it simply does not exist for the PC Version.
There also is no crossplay or anything like that.
The PC Version of Hunt does not have any kind of aim assist.
There is no aim assist unless of course you can prove otherwise.

Based on what am I saying this?

There's been a significant & noticeable increase in seeing 'unknown player' for both allies and opposing teams player names, rather than a steam name; this indicates a console player.

it was gud while it lasted

There is no crossplay. So you never play against console on PC. When you see "unknown player" it is because you turned it off "show player names" on accident more then likely on your death screen. To fix it go into your hud settings and reenable it or hit "f" on your death screen.

it seemed like it was after i re-enabled it, thus saying so in the post, but i'll check i guess at some point lul

i figured they already did xplay after the whole 'changing the gfx for console' thing
it will probably be a thing tho why wouldn't they there's always ppl that ask for crossplay even if some ppl for their reasons don't think it'd work for xyz game

i know one guy who actually is really good with controller even tho hes playing it on pc
