Worth it?

Been looking to maybe play with some friends recently. I've heard it's good, I've heard it's bad. Worth a buy? (yes I'm asking for opinions)

depends on what kind of person you are. this game is not really beginner friendly and while it is fun there is also a lot of problems such as bad servers, high ping limit, bugs and cheaters.

watch a review on yt and see if you like it.

Give this a good listen too kiddo. This game died during the August Update. Go get Space Marine 2. This game is worth 5 bucks at best at this rate. (Bullet Drop and New UI Massacred it)

Skill based matchmaking can't be disabled and could be very unfair in general(high mmr player with low mmr teammate fighting middle mmr players), but especially if you just joining in and you have high MMR friends you will most likely struggle. UI/UX is not user friendly and very buggy. Gunplay is usually about who gets to headshot their opposition first on the higher MMR side. But it has some good and fun mechanics and guns are fun to shoot, also some of the skins are good but pricey(depending on the region you are from).
And because I do not like where the game is headed, at most it is a cautious sale buy with a possible 2 hour refund.

I would say give it a try but the Steam 2hr refund policy is certainly not enough time for this game. Sure you will know pretty quickly if it runs bad like it does for loads of users.
To judge anything gameplay wise, by the time you setup key bindings, fathom out how to do things in the dreadful UI and get through the tutorial your 2hrs is liable to be up.

Space Marine 2 is very good I will say myself, I'm worried about longevity of it though.

Then for sure give it a try, see if you like it, if you are all new, matchmaking should be ok for you. But watch some videos/streams beforehand, UI is very bad and could eat a chunk of your 2 hour refund timer.

Not worth it. Still full of bugs, lots of cheaters (all the trash coming from the other games where they got banned, because they know Easy Anti-Cheat sucks so they enjoy their time here destroying legit players matches). Company is banning people on their social medias for asking questions. Ignoring community and doing their own things. Promised lots of things and did not deliver. The games condition right now is not so much different from what it was like several years ago, if not worse. Read some reviews. Go look up how many and what kind of bugs it has and you can then decide.

If you don't mind learning a very hard and deep game it's a really good game. Most of my friends who didn't continue playing stopped because they couldn't put in the hours and brainforce to learn how mechanics and game flow works. Half of my friends are still playing with me tho :). It is a good game don't look at toxic reddit doomers. Maybe on top level there are some cheaters but as I know even if a bit slow, devs work on stuff and actually care about what community says. Reddit doomers don't like developers to have a life like them. They expect everything to happen and everything to happen now so you can't really make them happy. I've played this game for a lot of hours even tho im not a big fan of FPS genre, more of a strategy player myself.

How many more years will people need to wait for them to fix bugs that have been around several years already? 7? 10? Oh, I forgot, they don't really have time for that since they will need to create more skins, because that is the only way they know how to make money.

This game is like no other that I've played. The setting is moody and oozes atmosphere. The guns and equipment are unique and feel satisfying. It takes all the exiting moments of survival games like Dayz, minus the backpack tetris and survival aspects. You can win by outthinking your opponents, playing mind games and luring them into traps. The sound in Hunt is on another level. You can truly see with your ears with enough practice. After > 3.5k hours it still gets my heart racing when I manage to clutch it against all ods.

It ain't all sunshine and roses though. This game has some serious issues. A lot of annoying bugs, that have been in the game for years. Performance problems after the recent engine upgrade. Balance is all over the place. Low tick rate servers that cause hit reg issues. No real ping limit and kill trades. I suggest watching some videos and then deciding if it's something you'd like, and if it's worth the headache.
