It's good to have a map that is a little more simple.
After a hard day at work it's gold to play a calming game of stillwater bayou!
Would be cool if we could choose which map to play.
There's "somethingsomething" Gorge on the new map. It's brilliant. The building is not big but layered and complex enough, there's hills, there's drops, there' buildings. You can fight anywhere between 100+ and 1m distance. You can push it, you can keep your distance if you want. Any and all guns are useful there. Fantastic location
Now look at Lockbay docks. West side open water, North side a field, road, fence and 2 tiny buildings, South side river with bridge, East side 1 tree and fence then Alice Farm. The only ok-ish thing there is the building and the lower level.
Stillwater is very immersive and pretty too but not a good map in the current state of the game.
Also... Compounds are way too close to each other. It's about 20-30 sec running from Alice farm to Darrow's and/or lockbay,..
!00% agree with you. Map (mammoth gulch) looks beautiful but plays terribly.
but the new map is objectively way less restrictive, more rewarding and with way more varied gunfight locations, although you probably tend to flat out avoid areas where you can get shot from 4 different levels
This game panders to low skilled no thought run and gun now, so those players don't like Stillwater because they can't just run everywhere doing whatever they want at anytime while being behind cover; they actually have to use their brain during the match.
Gulch is a ♥♥♥♥♥ fest filled with either cheaters insta headshotting +150m away or teams running away as soon as they hear a gun fire because there's no shortage of clutter to instantly hide behind or rocks to scurry around and away to or entrances to large buildings to camp inside.
I agree with you that Gulch has severely damaged the game design.
Yes. New map is poop.
Stillwater is what it is. It won't be so bad once the others are back in play and we end up on Stillwater far less often. Sometimes it's a fun map to play on, as long as you aren't trying to cross all the water between Lockbay and Blanchett. I die so often out there.
Also, I like a good mix of complex and simple compounds. I really like Mammon's Gulch, but I do think that some of the compounds are needlessly complex. Some compounds should be complex, and some quite simple.
Like Fort Carmick is pretty complex, but Iron Works right next door is very simple. This I think is fun map design with some variety. Meanwhile Lawson Station is in the middle. Not overly complicated, but also not super simple.
Mammon's Gulch is just... there's a million different ways into every building. I get it, they are trying to make shotgun camping or blocking all entrances but 1 with concertina not a thing anymore. But geez. Trying to learn these new compounds makes my head hurt.
i hope they bring back only the better maps from old hunt like desalle. i know there was a swampy intense map, forgot what it was called but i hope they dont bring that disaster of a map.
im glad im not the only one who kind of dislikes stillwater. i was gonna make my own discussion about it until i saw this one haha
