I set all settings to "Very High" except everything that has to do with "Shadows" and "Particles" - these are set to "High".
I play with DLSS in Quality mode and getting 100-110 FPS mostly everywhere.
Certain drops to 80-90 are possible, bust mostly it runs really smooth with that settings.
"Ultra" settings are using too much resources and i get between 50-60FPS which is not playyable for me.
Yeah it's a matter of 10/20 FPS at best. Not that bad tho. Thanks
That's something weird, you sould for sure run it in ultra above 60 FPS.
Thanks for the insight.
It would only reset all my settings back to default.
Supposedly something to help performance issues in certain compounds is to delete the D3D11 folder Hunt Showdown --> User --> Shaders --> cache folder
I got a 2080S and ryzen 5 5600x with the correct 4 way ram (something only relevant to AMD CPUs) at 64 gb. and I can swing between 90 in some places and 155 which is my Vsync limit although that 155 isn't for as long as the 90
As others said, shadows and fog settings. But there are also settings how the environment should render on distance. Since there are a bunch of trees and other stuff, may turn it on low aswell.
Also dunno what you mean with "I should be able to run it in the highest settings...". It actually depends on your resolution and even if your speccs are better than the recommended, doesn´t mean that those requirements grant 120fps on 4k.
They´re more like "minimum = everything on low 30-60fps", "recommended: everything on low 60-100fps" probably.
Oh yeah i did not mention the resolution, i don't run in 4k, i'm at "2k" (2560x1440).
I meant that i should find a way to make it smooth on the higher* settings (not highest, my bad here) than the ones i currently am which is medium.
I'm just annoyed to play with all the settings again and again. Mostly since the update that messed up with all my settings (sensitivity etc...), they all went back to default.
I haven't play in a while so i can't even remember them.
Just a matter of time but it does hurt to ask if someone who has a similar machine can help me out sharing his/her settings.
I'll try if everything fails, thanks !
Yeah, overall my game doesn't run that bad, just wondered if i could find a way to make it smoother ;)
Might be a thing, but i actually doubt that this bottleneck is that hard.
Just saying... my CPU runs ingame ~30% at ultra-settings while the GPU is on 99% usage. Using low-settings will cause the CPU to lose 5% usage at best.
This game isn´t close to be that CPU heavy as it needs the GPU to run on sick settings with a sick fps.
Is DLSS on? And if, on which preference?
I wouldn´t use quality, it will kill your fps. Better go balanced or even super-super-fps mode if needed, but the game will look kinda horrible then.

i get 200+ fps almost everywhere, no matter if set to all low or all ultra. there are a few locations on the new map where it does drop below 200, especially around the center compounds.
i still get stutters, i still got random crashes, i still got the whole MAP insta crash thing (haven
t checked since update), i still got the shadow bug (but different, since i have intel+nVidia hardware) and last but not least even though i have a 144Hz monitor and i get above 200FPS, the game still feels choppy for me.
that is because of the incredibly low tic-rate this game runs on.. you don't even wanna know.
you thought 64tic matchmaking in most games is bad? this game runs on 16tic. so even when the FPS is right, the game still feels off.
i would recommend these competitive settings, see if they work for you:
your res. should but native, but doesn't matter
texture & obj. quality low (your GPU can easily handle texture high/ultra though)
almost everything low except for the following:
texture filtering : 16x
AA : SMAA 2TX
lighting & water on medium
fog & view distance ration on ultra
