Curious about the non-centered crosshair
Do people for real find the game unplayable due to it or just cry for the sake of crying?
Genuinely curious!

Probably a mixture of both.

People that aren't used to it and refuse to accept that a game doesn't have to cater to the way they prefer to play can have actual issues getting acclimated to the mechanic.

These same people then come here to complain to other players like we can do anything about it.

It's ok to have issues with a mechanic or two... but no one here can help you solve it.

Having not really played pvp shooters outside of hunt, im not sure what to expect from a centered crosshair. Im definitely looking to give it a chance though, maybe suddenly i wont be treading a 1.0 KD anymore? lol

I honestly didn't even notice it until it was brought up as a gripe about the game many years ago. Even when I play something else that has a centered crosshair now I don't even notice.

I will certainly continue to play Hunt with the crosshair as it is now.

Probably more to do with readjusting the cross heir on their monitor or software.

That's my guess too

This is the most pointless thread, given that after many years of people disliking it finally give the option to center it.

It was stupid, this game is an single experiment and what they initially planned as a ADS "Hunt" game, they turned into a run and gun shooter where nobody spends any reasonable time in ADS, it literally never really made sense. Even for ADS its way to much off center. NOBODY aims that much down the sights to scan the horizon only to flick shot up when there is someone.

It ends up that they just forced people to aim at the sky for years, most players will never look back after they center it on the 15th.

I personally never had a big issue with it, I got used to it pretty quickly but it still never made any sense.

Doubt it. I think it's more if you've been playing FPS games for years, a non-centered crosshair just feels very odd. For most people who are above-average, a good practice people usually follow is keeping their crosshair at head level. A lowered crosshair forces you to break that habit and it can feel VERY jarring.

Took me a bit to get used to it, but it didn't bother me too much. Just felt very odd when I first started. Glad they're at least giving people the option now. Was a really weird thing for them to double down on in the past.

Centered crosshair is the main reason I'm returning to the game to be honest. To this day I can't understand why option to center crosshair was not in the game at launch, I remember people saying that it's hard coded or something, or that "well hunter is holding a rifle by his hip, so naturally crosshair will be lowered", but turns out it CAN be centered. So yeah, I really struggled with non centered crosshair, played the game exclusively with my friends since they got used to it, they could hit they targets easily, while i had to readjust my aim every time I had to shoot someone farther than 10 meters or so. Don't know if they will center the crosshair though.

Many reasons why lowered crosshair is bad, no reason why it's good.

The biggest problem with this lowered crosshair is that if you want to keep the crosshair at the horizon level and pre-aim into certain spots, you have way less visibility of the ground below it, instead of having 50% of your screen filled with ground and terrain, you only have 33% and the rest of the 66% above the crosshair is just sky or not basically nothing important for you to watch. You can argue that on Desale there is this verticality which lower crosshair could help but in reality, it doesn't.

If you play other games and you are used to looking at the centre of your screen, you naturally preaim that spot, you have your muscle memory and eye-hand coordination to get this centre spot in focus. Everyone I know, when running or looking in Hunt, they still aim with the centre of the screen and not with the Hunt crosshair so everytime they want to aim they need to adjust this and it sucks, and it's slows you down. The only solution to this problem is an overlay with a dot which you use to preaim and keep your crosshair when it's not visible on the proper level, but if you do it you lose a lot of ground and terrain visibility. And in higher MMR you need to preaim.

I can understand where you are coming from, but at the same time muscle memory is a meme.

"Aim is not muscle memory. It's hand-eye-coordination. That's what you improve at through regular play or with aim trainers. You can't hit people "with your eyes closed", no matter how much you train.

There are games that add in mechanics that you are unfamiliar with. Do you tell them to change it because you are not comfortable?

I mean it's a moot point at this point due to the Hunt changes that are going to occur. But to me, people not being able to adapt slightly to a gameplay mechanic is insanely weak.

Clearly it just boiled down to people not wanting to break from the norm and practice, pretty much like anything else. That's why the game isn't even recognisable to how it was in EA or even 1.0. The masses are clowns that want all games to play the same with little to no effort/practice required. It is why they added Gunslinger.

Thank you for the explanation video! If they wanted weapons to not get in the way then just... make the model lower, like TF2 did way back then, while still keeping the crosshair where it should be, but then again, might be how game's code works: lower the weapon = lower the crosshair, no way around other than rising the weapon model which they didn't wanted. About the gunplay - here I am not so sure, I mean that it didn't felt much different from any other realist-ish shooters (to me at least). And about "taking the world in" - I don't think it matters that much in a PvP game where one precise shot is all it takes to send someone back to the main menu. Anyway, it's good that they finally gave us an option.

I take no credit just shared, the man Paft that posted above uploaded it :)

Either way its getting a centered crosshair next week for those that wish to use it.

It has been a topic for a long long time and glad that Devs have implemented it to please those players.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Didn't even noticed until someone pointed out it wasn't centered.

Not sure how it could be an issue, I'd like to see more screen not weapon.
