Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Leaving a negative review because of cheaters is UNGRATEFUL and UNFAIR to Crytek
The recent reviews on steam for 'Hunt: Showdown' are now mixed. Not 'Very Positive', not 'Mostly Positive'... mixed.

Looking at the recent negative reviews it is overwhelmingly players with hundreds or thousands of hours of play time who are mad about cheaters.

Yes, people who cheat in video games are the equivalent of the slimy paste that collects in Lizzo's crack. They are rancid sacks of fecal matter and I hope legislation catches up to popular culture and cheaters start getting arrested and face actual jail time. After all, cheaters are thieves. If you pay for a video game experience you shouldn't be robbed of that experience by some A-holes who are such losers in real life they must cheat in video games to feel better about what losers they are. (No, it isn't "just another way to play the game" you dripping turd logs.)

That being said, cheating in multiplayer games is ubiquitous. From what I understand cheating continues everywhere because it's a genuinely complex problem to keep in check, technically speaking. Could Crytek do more to stop cheaters? Maybe. Probably. But they've announced that they're addressing it (again) in the upcoming event/update.

But is it really fair to have played the game 900 hours or 1500 hours or 3,000 hours or OVER 5,000 hours (as I have seen with these negative reviews) and then take a dump on Hunt's user score because of frustration about cheating? Do you really want to drive people away from the game at a time when so many AAA games are about to come out? Do you really want to depress the player base just because you think Crytek isn't doing enough about cheating? Do you want the player base to whither and die?

Let Crytek cook. Let them address the situation. Complain in forums like this so they know your dissatisfaction. But don't start review-bombing them. 'Hunt: Showdown' is the best multiplayer ever made, which is why these whiners leaving negative reviews have hundreds or thousands of hours of play time! Look at what Crytech has been working on for this upcoming event- it looks phenomenal. Look at the expertise and artistry of what Crytek have been delivering for years.

Calm down, all you crybabies. Give Crytek some respect and hopefully we'll see an improvement on the cheating issues in the near future.

No its NOT. Its their job to fight it of they like it or not. No clue what they are paying the EAC guys and why they need their own people for it but apperently they have them. They claim to have hired a anti-cheat taskforce like months ago but from what we publically see they slapped EAC on the game that seems to be crap for hunt or in general and do not really do much.

Complaining in forums is OK but how dare them leave a negative review, where it actually puts pressure on them.

I remember a post from someone who dabbled in Rust progamming and was able to make some proof on concept cheats and said it was surprisingly easy to build a cheat program that was not detected.

The people who they hired proably just review videos and ban some people where the proof is obvious. Technically fighting this is probably pretty hard and a cat a mouse game, but other games have to deal with it as well. I am 4* (3 currently) I do pretty much never think someone is cheating, I hardly ever see something that I can tell is cheating. Wellbangs make sense to me when they happen. But I also see the videos of people who post cheaters and I believe in 5 and 6 star its a different story about cheaters. They for sure are there.

please, do some things to cheater.. They ruining my gaming experience and for people who put 1000-4000 hours into your game we deserve a new anti cheat or an update. I know you won't do anything but an email to the team or a paper in the toilet saying "there are too many cheaters in HS" would be really appreciated. Thank you, hoping not to have to change my steam opinion on the game.. good luck for the job.

Nah cheating is a legit issue. I haven't seen any progress towards addressing this problem. If people wanna vote it down for that, that's their choice. After all it's a product and if it doesn't meet expectations then it dies. Apex got downvoted to hell cause of the same problem

I don't want it to die. And do you think the people who gave bad reviews recently will fix those reviews if Crytek does a better job correcting the issue this next update? No, I bet not even 10% will revise their review. Having a 'mixed' score could spell death to attracting new players and Hunt doesn't deserve that.

Yea, but maybe Crytek should have thought about that beforehand.
Don't care about the issues your games has?
Well, then your reviews go south.

It was always like this and it is fair. Its nothing exlucive to hunt.
But games can recover, if they address the issues which are reasons for the negative reviews.. (one example is helldivers).

Even if people do not change their negative review.
Every Problem that is "resolved" will affect future reviews and give them one reason less to leave a negative one.

It's a service game where I'm asked to pay again and again. E.g. through battle passes ingame skins or DLCs. But then they also have to provide a good gaming experience.
But if I get cheated away in one day and see that these people have just 100h in HUNT but VAC ban etc. then I have no fun and then I don't spend any more MONEY.
People who have 3000+h are big FANS of the game and are more inclined to invest real money but if there are RU/CN cheaters in almost every match and the servers are lousy then these people stop playing which means DEATH for a serious game. This is even worse than a mixed review status.

I've left a negative review for Hunt, and have over 3k hours in it. But not because of cheating. I still stand by the fact that I have only encountered a handful of cheaters in all that time playing. Only 1 player I recall was actually unashamedly cheating (I reported with video evidence), the rest were just somewhat sus. Perhaps I'm lucky, I don't know, but I've never found it to be much of an issue tbh.
I think a huge amount of players confuse skill and luck with cheating, and with the way Hunt plays (with its slower combat), it lends itself more to these accusations than a lot of other competitive FPS' out there.

The reason I left a negative review is because of the devs changing things no one asked for recently, that don't make sense, and have impaired the balance of the game. My patience running out with the constant stream of bugs and terrible servers hasn't helped either. IMO a game that's been around for the last 6 years shouldn't be this buggy.

My biggest gripe is with the recent MMR changes, which IMO has made the game just a walking death simulator for me. It's simply no longer fun as I'm pitched constantly against players better than me (no, not cheaters). I don't want to be slaughtering seals, but at the same time I don't want to be pitched against sweatlords. I just want to play against equally matched players.

Ultimately, things can change for the better (and I really hope they do). I hope Crytek sort these things out, but I admit my faith in that actually happening is somewhat tarnished. Would I have recommended Hunt this time last year? Definitely. Would I recommend it now (for newbies)? Absolutely not.

You don't need cheats in this game to have a legit wallhack. Technology behind Hunt is so outdated and poor that it's suprising it held positive reviews for so long.

Holy wall of text batman!

also no, it really isn't given the response to cheaters is Cryteks choice.. and they chose "ignore"
