How does matchmaking work?
What's the point of joining 3.5 mmr team with 5.5?
It's kinda unfair isn't it?

Should be EU or RU.

Matchmaking is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, its already hard making proper matchmaking for game with so much RNG and no skill kills and Crytek decided to use basic one and set values ridiculously low so you jump up/down ranks pretty fast, you can be trash and have one lucky round and bam you are high rank now or you can be good but get random hs from dualies by low rank premades and you can get low to rank pretty easy.

I feel like that must be a factor because I play US east and I get mad when I see a single star difference between team ratings.

This is a good thing. Imagine a high level player de-ranks to club some seals. If the system was slow he would remain with the seal pups longer.
The faster the response, the faster they will rise back to where they belong if they are able to kill several players per match without dying.

I have seen this in action when a youtuber tried to get to one star. If he even accidentally killed a player (which happened lol) he will halt his downward progression and go up a star.
It was legitimately hard for him to de-rank to one star even TRYING to die and NOT kill.

I like the results of this better than some slow to react matchmaking systems I have used. And like you, here in the US I rarely see anyone over my rank by more than one star.

The sooner you accept the MMR system in Hunt Showdown is terrible and doesn't work the quicker you can move on. MMR means in Hunt (Match Making Randomizer)

but if it were slow they would also have a miserable time dropping their rank in the first place as it would take forever.

Either way they still spend the same net time in a bracket they manipulated themselves into, but for those NOT manipulating their mmr you'd hover closer to where you should be more often.

The issue WILL be helped a bit by the upcoming nerf to necro because I gain a LOT of artificial rank from killing solos 5 times. You get a match with a few solos and you end up with 15-20 kills from defeating only a few solo players.

It´s simple, dont work... LoL

Im not even joking... They use the DUMBEST system possible with your MMR in relation by whoo you kill or get killed, so you can flutuate A LOT in rops.

If you are a Rop 3 and kill 2 guys that are rop 5... You probally gonna jump to rop 4.
Or if you are a Rop 5 and get killed by a rop 2, you also goes to rop 4...
If you kill a LOT of guys at rop 3, nothing will happen...
I already killed NINE guys in a single match and many others in consecutive matchs playing with a friend. None of us got more ROP.

But killed a trio of rop 5, i INSTA goes to rop 4.
Did it again as rop 4, get rop 5...
I was rop 4, get killed by a rop 2. Im now at rop 3 (2 days ago i was at rop 5)...

Not to mention that the game chooses guys WAYYYYYYYYYY better than you (no offense) as other guys way worse than you in a single match... That´s the biggest problem with this game IMO.

I'm not sure I'd call ELO the "dumbest" system ever created for ranking player skill

Keep goofing around in souls survivor. Get yourself killed. Repeat till you are a 2 star MMR. play bounty hunt. Have fun farming scrubs.
