Plus it would make the the divide even worse between rifles and pistols.
Why a spinoff instead?
in an interview the new hunt general manager David has answered the question when asked about a sequel that he is not expecting to make a direct sequel and that he plans to make Hunt Showdown last for a while longer, but he explicitly said he considers himself to be the Hunt "franchise" manager, and that they consider Hunt to be a franchise rather than just a singular game. The question was about a solo game in the future and he said they're always considering and looking at options.
So you can either try to find a game that suits your needs more or accept the fact that Hunt is different and continue to play, easy as that.
I presumed a new engine will be hunt 2, maybe they will just upgrade the engine, and keep calling it hunt 1, but IDK
most games get called 2 when they get a new engine
Make the game you want to see!
no its still Hunt: Showdown. in the interview i linked above he explicitly says he does NOT wanna make it a new game. the engine doesn't change the game really, like other than the graphics, so I'm not sure why games decide to sequel themselves when they upgrade an engine. but not all games do that. fortnite upgraded to ue5, started using lumen and nanite, and never did that.
Fortnite didn't need the pop surge from a re-release. hunt does.
Theirs a big difference between saying you want to do something and you will do something.
Do you have any other examples? Fortnight isn't actually a common game. And enabling lumen and nanite is pretty minor anyway.
